Kaku ,Ninad were left Scot free.Pakhi starts making faces when she is questioned. Sonali ,Omi & Karishma spew venom when she is lying at the deathbed.

Sai is looking for Virat as soon as she opens her eyes .

Like what are they trying to project? Do the crime coz you will go Scot free without anything while the victim can have a mental breakdown like Devi & Sai

Yes, he is now... First he was shown as that perfect gentleman who helps the FL when she loses her son and the FL and ML separate. FL helps him raise his girl since his wife left him, she gets a new lease to life. Now that their son comes back, FL and ML get married, are shown in love, this guy has turned into a creep. His long lost wife has returned to him but both are villains in the story, wanting to separate the lead pair by literally making their little girl (maybe 6-7 years old) depressed by their antics, using her bond with the FL. Real mother too does not seem to have any attachment with her girl... No one questions the content broadcasted, it's been since many episodes they are showing such things. Audience are bothered only to see the lead pair together in one frame, they should have scenes together.

By the way, the above one is a typical Ekta Kapoor plot...🙈

Well, the responsibility ends there. Everyone signed petition when Sai was locked, nothing happened. Why? This kind of domestic abuse doesn't warrant a show to be shut down. The makers however did make a character talk about it.

Secondly, if you take Ghum as a show, drama has worked. The audience made Sairat a hit. So right now why would they show Sai's solo journey to please a section of audience? From a business point of view, why would a PH get a new guy for Sai when they can cash in on Sairat till it totally fizzles out. And even if they get, what is the guarantee that he will be perfect guy. The guy might be worse making Sai choose Virat again. Between The devil and the deep sea. The show is at number 2 right now and at a consistent number range which means more than whether the audience is liking or not, it means audience ks coming back to watch it.

Debatable topic.

Well since the channel is profit oriented.... obviously they will show any crap that gets them TRP....Not just this channel, most private channels will work this way only because it's all about profit and competition.

So ultimately it will be the responsibility of government institutions like BCCC to monitor the content - they are being pretty useless

As horrible as this is....atleast it's the antagonist that is doing all this....and his actions are being portrayed as vile. Small mercies. 😁

As far as I remember, few days back, especially after the Saree kaand, where Sai breaks down, many complained to IBF regarding the content shown. In return of that, they got the reply that the content shown is fine, it's part of broader story where the protagonist Sai goes through these things... Till the time they have TRPs, they won't be bothered. On top of that it's all easy money for them, just copy paste and Google translate.

That's why they are disclaimer, "this is a work of fiction." Maybe In future, they might tweak but right now when it comes to Ghum...

- If people are expecting virat will be punished/jailed for locking up Sai - not happening

- Sai to have a new lead - not happening so soon. Future ka not sure.

- Sai's solo journey - Not lucrative when it comes to TRPs.

Trimurti were not punished for kidnapping. If viewers think, this show is making mockery of so many professions, they will add a few scenes here and there. Government won't interfere. And why would they when a disclaimer is already flashed in the beginning. Infact they won't even read petitions unless it violates rules and regulations laid by them.

Sometimes it’s triggering on so many levels.

I called out Vankar in his insta account for promoting domestic abuse in prime time tv show and he blocked me 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄😡

I mean absolutely zero social responsibility for the ph and the channel 🤬

Kuch bhi chaltha hai to make money.

Indian tv viewers are not that evolved that they can separate reel from real. In respect to itv when the actors go out in public they are recognised from their character name not by the real name in 80% of the itv audience.

Imagine the influence these guys have on the rural India 😏

I think we can only vent and get angry. These guys are not going to change or realise the damage they do in the society as long as they get trp 😒

If I can participate then can u answer will sai really tolerated in real world ?

Ofcourse. Everyone is welcome to state their views.

Ofcourse Sai has flaws. But The point I'm trying to make is different. I'm talking about showing responsible content on television. ITV shows - it will be filled with all sorts of toxic crap - all will be useless for our life, most of the characters will not be relatable. But there are certain issues that are very prevalent in our society - like caste system, dowry harassment, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, child marriage. Atleast in these extremely serious and widely prevalent issues - they should spread awareness about how these things are morally wrong. Not endorse it or treat it casually.

I personally have this opinion that TV needs way more censorship than OTT. But somehow the latter is the primary target at this point in time in our country.

Right now, all the attention is on streaming platforms and free apps which somehow have a niche audience. That audience as per the norms specified in most apps/streaming channels have to be above 18, which one assumes they are considering parents to be responsible enough to handle children's viewership content atleast till they are 15/16. At these ages one assumes that a person starts associating oneself with a certain type of content and disassociates themself with some others. These platforms are a good space for unique content & have some of the best writing/Stories/screenplays/acting and directions & are precisely picking up because a large section of the audience do not want to watch the regressive content on TV at all and has stayed away. Most of my friends are in the 25-30 age bracket and we don't watch TV as such for any serials, some watch reality shows or sports or news or music, entire generations have moved on to OTT because you get the opportunity to watch what you want to watch and also manage your time and energies. Censorship here for some reason is more important than TV for the Censor Bureau and it is beyond me why these things work like this. Somewhere, the subtle indication starts that when art starts taking liberties to grow closer to truth, many institutions stand shaken & so the power dynamics continue.

I don't know about everyone here but Ghum is the first ITV show I have watched/come back to IF for after 7/8 odd years and the gap was there precisely because of the type of content served on TV and absolute disregard for social messages. Plus many of these shows have you emotionally invested. The last show I adored also I quit beyond a point, it was too much for me and I was happier reading good FF's on the forum. I think this platform is majorly not built for sensitive audiences, their mindset no matter they say is to serve strong drama and get good TRP's and that is the only parameter for major success.

Very few shows dare to keep content as they market it (every promo somehow markets a progressive story in the beginning and is written to back it the first few months) but somehow these stories from what I have understood do not make a mark on the TRP audience, who stand as the deciders for TV shows working. Had Ghum been a limited series on OTT I'm pretty sure we would have been served very different and progressive content.

Coming back to the question: No, any show marketing abuse openly in the name of love needs to send the other end of the social message that it is not correct, redemption needs to happen not only through words but also through actions of the abuser, deep regret and understanding of how fundamentally wrong they went being a member of IPS cadre that they project. Forget the cadre, any human being wanting normal Love and marriage with the other person needs a long redemption arc. Without this, they are just serving toxicity and justifying abuse.

This is how private parties will be. Channel will want profit. PH will be under pressure to avoid being relegated by the channel for low trps, or may themselves want hight TRP....could be both. Same for Hollywood, Bollywood. As much as we cribbed about the content, Doordarshan never showed any regressive content. Because it was not driven by profit. Any private party will be driven by market competition and profit. Not absolving them of their responsibility but we won't be able to stop them - until and unless everyone will be aware enough to raise a hue and cry - which will not happen.

So the role of neutral, non-partisan bodies like BCCC is very very important - to reign in channels and monitor content shown on these channels.
