Attraction?
AGE 15
Ms. Linda our math teacher enters the class with our test papers. Anger was quite visible in her eyes, as she distributed our papers with a stern look on her face. I was happy that I passed even if it was by a quarter of a mark. Raavi, our class topper, had yet again scored a cent. My eyes later travelled to Shiva, my best friend , parabatai or whatever adjective you may use only to find him frowning. He scored more than me, 45% is not that bad afterall when I am happy with 39% he had no reason to crib I thought.
Our math teacher started her lecture with the lines “ I am disappointed in this class-” the rest was gibberish to me
The “bright” students were supposed to tutor the ones with a low percentage
“You’re responsible for him”
Ordered our teacher to Raavi while eyeing Shiva
A month later
As if it was deja vu , Ms.Linda walked in again with our test papers in her hand. The only change being there were no stress lines on her forehead. I was extremely happy with my marks. Roshni, my classmate tutored me the past month and i managed to score 63%. Once again my eyes traveled to Shiva to find him jumping in happiness , he scored 92% and the first thing he did was run and take Raavi in for a big bear hug. What surprised me was seeing Raavi hug him back with equal passion.
Shiva and Raavi were the known enemies of the town. Their tolerance towards each other is less than .0 or rather WAS less than .0
A few months from then , they were officially dating. Shiva and Raavi became ShiVi .They were inseparable and totally in love. But who would believe that two 16 year old teenagers were in “love” . It was obviously infatuation, I thought.
AGE 25
But standing here today ,10 years later. Seeing them stealing glances from each other at their wedding makes me want to believe in love again. Look at the irony , all of us who termed their relationship as “attraction” or “infatuation” were here , dancing at their baraath.
I had seen Ms. Linda again after 10 years that day. My face broke into a smile when i heard
“You’re responsible for her”
She ordered Shiva eyeing at Raavi .
And that was the day ShiVi became my favorite love story.
-Anil
Anil, a well known author of the town, concluded his series with his favorite love story.
