Fateh does not lack character as such, but lacks a maturity to deal with complicated situations.

Fateh is running behind a fake love. He is confused and has mixed up his emotions. Fateh was living a simple life before all this mess happened in his life. He is used to getting what he wants, and now that he could not get jasmine, he is fixated on her. He is like the child who wants to eat too many ice creams on a cold winter night, but mummy stops him.
So, emotionally, fateh is unable to deal with the complications and now that things seem simpler with tejo divorcing him, he wants his friendship back.
Tejo on the other hand, is used to complicated situations due to her family. She is also more mature emotionally. Hence, she realises that things cannot go back to what they were. But, she will also understand fateh's dilemna and confusion.
Cheating is not right, but relations cannot be broken so easily, specially when you are emotionally involved like fatejo are, even if one or both of them do not realise just how emotionally involved they are with each other. Fateh cares for Tejo, while tejo loved fateh deeply. Once the anger cooled down, Fateh showed his care, like in the exam paper incident. Tejo, still loves him, but is successfully hiding it, because emotions do not die in a day. It is impossible.
Sometimes, it is easier to forgive someone for their mistake, no matter how grievious it is, than to move on. But, only when you are sure that the person will not commit the same mistake again.
This is exactly the case with fatejo. I feel that painting everything black and white is not how life works. I have repeated multiple times that even tejo is to blame a little for fateh going back to jasmine. He barely had a month to move on and once jasmine came back, tejo pushed fateh to meet gippy, forgive jasmine, mention jasmine multiple times, making fateh think more about her.
Jasmine will definitely get hold of the passport and even her pen drive and manipulate fateh further, and no doubt I will taje great pleasure in seeming fateh regret and cry.
Do I want Tejo to give fateh a second chance? yes, but only if they show fateh actually realising all his mistakes and being genuinely sorry about it. And it would also depend on how strongly tejo feels for him, which is pretty strong on the show.
I will share a real life incident that happened with someone I know:
The couple was expecting a baby and had not been intimate in months. After the baby was born, again there was no intimacy between the couple. The husband had no complaints and they were very happy. The husband went for an office trip, got drunk and had a one night stand. Now this couple lives abroad, no one was about to go and tell the wife about this.
But the husband confessed. He told her truthfully, that he got drunk with colleagues and had no recollection of how he had a one night stand and was truly sorry.
The wife understood that it was never his intention to cheat, and if he wanted he could have hidden the truth and she would never know. She forgave him, ofcourse with the assurance that this would never happen again and he would not drink too much.
Now, here one can argue that they just had a baby, parents would interfere and so on, but the truth is, she was independent and parents would not have interfered. They would have supported her. But still she forgave her husband because he did not do it on purpose.
Fateh cheated on tejo, he knew he was doing wrong and this would hurt tejo, BUT, he also felt guilty. He is confused between what he thinks he wants and what he truly desires.
It is a conundrum, that fateh never wanted to hurt tejo, but knew that when she came to know about jasmine, she would be hurt.
