I think he's just being salty about his ex - male ego is a real thing and his ego took a HUGE hit from his ex.
I don't think he has any romantic love feelings for her. He's just holding a grudge against her.
He hasn't thought about her in at least a year, clearly, so I'm still going to say Pallavi is the only one he loves.
But yeah like you said today was the perfect time to tell her everything. She clearly got the feeling that something else was going on. The lying and yelling - yeah not great when he's not actually telling her the entire situation. Like you said - how is she supposed to know if he doesn't tell her.
