Sai has always been such an introvert, and people who are introverts are big softies in general, when they care for someone they go ALL in, without any pretension or inhibition. I assume Sai always cared for her as a co actor even before that but because he's a decent guy (and so unlike the usual ITV actors) he never wanted to overstep his boundaries and kept his distance from Shivi, until Shivi fell ill. His care and respect for her made him come out of his shell and take care of her because maybe he realized no one was going to do it for her❤️ So much respect for this guy man❤️
