Well you know I've never seen Neil as a great actor. People feel that Virat is made for Neil....but honestly I didn't like his acting at all in the beginning. Neil as Virat has been an acquired taste for me.
Even in the beginning, during SaiRat fight scenes, i felt Ayesha's acting exposed Neil's deficiencies. No matter how rough around the edges and inexperienced Ayesha is, raw talent was always visible. I like NeilSha's chemistry (which is awesome) better than Neil's acting.
I'm not saying Neil is a bad actor - he acts certain understated scenes well. But he is still not a top notch actor - good enough is how I see him. I find most ITV actors below par.....Neil is better in that way.
I don't notice all his expressions minutely....i just go by the overall effect an actor is having on me. I get affected by Ayesha, Barun, Karan Patel ... Neil's acting lacks heart. Again not saying he is bad - he is limited. But I don't have too many expectations anyway.
I think I don't go by any expectations as far as ITV is concerned - either in terms of acting or other technicalities. For me sab kuch chalta hai. The only lesson I've still not learnt is letting go of the plot - I keep cribbing about it still. 😆
Karan Patel was fab in angry scenes and comic timing...I dont think anyone can beat him there.. Though he got bored with YHM eventually...
Neil's acting ..I might use the word is acting...very put on and not natural...He just acts...like you say lacks heart...But recently it looks caricaturist to me...Matlab meme ban jaye har scene ka..
Ayesha still I think has so much to work on, especially her body language, her voice modulation and dialogue delivery...But I do think she always had an upper hand in their confrontational scenes..in their fight scenes...I think Jaffar got the best in her...
Recently she brings in the pout and all in her crying, which does not go with the emotions...I still feel her best crying scenes were when her Aaba died..,that broke my heart....and the ones where she cried in Virat's room all alone at O ri chidaiya... Then the other favourite is her GC breakdown before and after Virat meets her... Still when she cries or gets emotional, like recently she did got a tear or two...Neil did not do that to me..ever...
Barun SObti, his breakdown when he got to know about Khushi ...Gosh he was so good...But I think that show had good directors...This show never had any good director after Jaffer...They could not even keep a crisp execution for a year...
I really liked her when after Harini confrontation...the way she said to Virat "Mujhe dard dete hain, takleef pahuchate hain" ...that was so nicely done...
Her confrontations with Patralekha/Virat/family the day after Harini kaand, is my personal favourite..
Ayesha is better at light hearted scenes, better than Neil...She is very good at being goofy...
Coming to Neil I think he is good at action scenes...because he has been doing it for a long time..I mean the basic ones...He has issues with proximity that's established anyway... He was good at subtle nuances but those nuances are no more worth watching, because he has started playing dumb charades now...So yeah...
I think for mei Neilesha(onscreen only, offscreen to I would want Ayesha to run away)>> Ayesha>>>> Neil . I mean in terms of connection...I am sure Neil is a good actor, but does not work for me...not anymore to be honest..
