Chapter 1

“Maasi Ma, nahi! mujhse aap se koi aur behes nahi karni hai. Mujhe abhi ladke nahi dekhne hai. Meri padaayi toh puri hone do na. Last year mein hoon” Raavi yelled loudly at Prafulla.

“Tu kaunsi college ki topper hai? Mushkil se toh pass hoti hai. Waise bhi tere 21 saal aa chuke hai, ladke dekhlena, shaadi kar ke settle ho jaana” Prafulla said.

“Kya Prafulla, bachhi ko focus karne de na, yahan pe rahegi toh tu usse padai nahi karne degi” Mausa Pa said in support of Raavi. “Raavi, tu ek kaam kar, main Suman ben se baat karunga, tu na unke ghar mein rehke apna last year poora kar le. Tere liye bhi location change hoga aur Yeh Prafulla se door bhi reh sakti hai”

Raavi’s eyes lit up in excitement, “Dhara Di aur Gaumbi ke ghar!?”“Thank you thank you so much Mausapa” She said hugging him.

The Pandya’s owned a store in Somnath and were known for their business acumen. Gautam and Dhara were B.com graduates, Dev the second brother was pursuing a MBA degree, Shiva the third brother was an final year engineering student and Krish the last brother was in his 12th grade.

Shiva detested his Maami and her family due to family feuds; and he projected that anger on Raavi. Shiva and Raavi were known for their banters since childhood. Raavi on the other hand was cheerful and continued to irk Shiva all the more. Raavi had always been a pure soul whose heart was filled with love for the Pandyas. As years passed by, the families reconciled but Shiva and Raavi kept their frenemy equation intact, anything outside that would be alien to them.

As they were classmates all their lives, the teachers in Somnath had a hard time resolving their fights. Shiva was a school topper, who was focused on his education. On the contrary, Raavi was a social butterfly who was always seen outside the classroom. They maintained the same personality traits till the last year of engineering.

Shiva always dreamt of becoming and engineer and his seat was a merit based one, where as Raavi got admitted after her Mausa Pa pulled some strings with the university's management. Raavi only wanted to pursue engineering to stay in college for an extra year. If she pursued a B.com, she would have been done with her education a year earlier and her Maasi would have gotten her married. The excuse of engineering bought her one extra year of time.

Raavi ran to her room and begin packing her bags to shift to the Pandya house. She could hear her Maasi and Mausa argue in the background, but she didn’t care. Her only aim right now was to somehow finish her last year of college and get an engineering degree while having the greatest college experience. Staying in her Maasi’s house was hard as she had to abide by the curfews and her Maasi was constantly pestering her about meeting potential suitors for marriage. She was tightly knit to the Pandyas with the exception of Shiva and and spent most of her time in their house anyway, moving there now would just a formality.

She ran back to the living room after packing “ Mausapa, main tayaar hoon. Aap mujhe drop kar deinge?” Her uncle nodded as her aunt glared at her before heading back to her room.

As Raavi and her Mausa Pa entered the Pandya house, they saw the entire family was watching the India Vs Australia cricket match. “Dhara Di, Suman Kaki, Gaumbi, Im here!” Raavi yelled in excitement. “Ofcourse, tu yahan aayi aur Rohit Sharma ka wicket gone. Panauti” Shiva said as Suman slightly nudged him.

“Suman ben, Raavi ko kuch dino ke liye yahan rehene de ne ke liye shukriya. Prafualla ne iss bechari ko padai pe focus karneke liye mauka nahi de rahi thi. Mujhe laga, yahan aake isse accha lagega” Mausa Pa said.

“Haan Mama-“ Gautam was about to say something as he was interrupted by Shiva

“Padai pe focus aur yeh? 1st standard se lekar abhi tak issne school mein padai kam aur fancy dress, annual day pe zyada focus kiya hai”

“Oh Please! Shiva, usse extra curricular activities boltehai, par tujhe kahan pata, who tere curriculum mein thodi hai” Raavi said instantly.

“Arrey, bas bhi karo tum dono” Suman said looking at the two of them. “ Tu fikar mat kar bhai, Raavi humare yahan rehke padai karegi. Tu uss Prafulla ko sambhal aur hum Raavi ko, isse padna hai na, toh yeh padegi” she said looking at her brother this time.

A smile crept up on Raavi’s face as she hugged Suman. “Thank you Kaki! Aap best hai”

“Haan Mama, aap iski chinta bilkul mat karna, vaise bhi yeh aur Shiva ek hi jagah jaate hai, Shiva usse apne saath roz college leke jayega aur leke aayega. Raavi ki final year ka zimmedaari, humari” Gautam said.

"Pan Gaumbi main toh-" Shiva was about to interject but stopped himself as he saw Raavi smiling at him as she raised her eyebrows up.

“Yeh kahan phas gaya” Shiva thought to himself.
