She's part of the longest running show on the boob tube.

And that's Ashlesha Sawant's only claim to fame. But then folks, don't get us wrong, this lanky beauty has more to her than just one serial to her credit.

In an interview to Lucknow Times, Sawant talks of why she loves her laidback approach to building a career in the entertainment industry and what she has planned if her dreams of making it big on the small screen bombs.

"I love to live in the moment, just like Osho, who took life as it came. Agar kaam milta hai toh good aur agar nahin milta, that's fine as well," quips Ashlesha, when quizzed about the lack of offers.

So what made her take on the role of Tara in Saat Phere, which doesn't seem to be very meaningful either?
"Well the role has changed quite a lot from what was offered to me initially. It's quite different now. Once the serial developed, my role did not remain the same. Now it's not what was originally discussed with me," says Ashlesha.

So far so good. But incase offers don't come her way, what has she planned to do for a living? "Oh, we will see. As of now, offers are not coming my way. If they do come, I will take it up if they suit me," she says.
Coming from a fauji background like so many others in the entertainment industry, ask her why do most of the girls who have grown up in a defence background find their way to tinseltown, and pat comes the reply, "Because we are all brats! And brought up that way too."

So the disciplined life does nothing to tame the bratty side? "Not really. My dad's a fighter pilot posted at Pune and we have been brought up with quite a lot of freedom to do what we want to," she says firmly.
So did she always want to be part of the entertainment industry?

"I never thought about it very seriously initially. But yes, when I was offered a role, I took it up."
But with such a radical upbringing, is she comfortable being part of the behenji brigade of the telly soaps. Would she not like to take up more meaningful roles like most other women in television?

"Well, I would love to if I was making serials. And since I'm not, I have to do what the scene and the character demands in terms of costume and make-up. But just for the record, I am very different from the character of Tara in real life," answers the good looking actor.
