yes they are listening, and using keywords for targeted advertisement.

Once I told my friend to look for a Groupon for hair cut.. same day within few hours I got an email from Groupon for haircut…

At a wedding I asked a friend where she got her outfit, she told me the name. I was like nice, I’ve never heard about them. And next day I got an email from that brand…

the list is endless…

Even things I don’t talk about, just think about… they start popping up on my screen… it’s cray cray

Smart phones. Smart speakers…

Now everything is “smart” anyway… who knows where our data is being sold…

now voice recognition is being introduced. I read about it years ago that even people who ditch smartphones wil be able to tracked via using microphones of other people around them… i thought what a joke… the jokes on me now… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Instagram is the one spying on you. FB has been sued because they use the front camera and microphone to listen in on people so they can collect data to target personalised ads at you. This is why I have not only uninstalled that useless app, but I've also disabled my microphone and camera. I only switch them on when I need to. These companies creep me out. The last straw was when I was discussing a specific niche bra company with my sister (one that I had never heard of till that morning) and guess what was the first ad I saw on IG 🙃

I remember a couple of years ago, there was a guy on this forum complaining about why he can see adverts for weed everywhere...

Yes, they definitely listen! This has happened to me more than once. Where I never googled a particular subject but simply talked about it - next thing I know I'm recommended a video on it/ad on it. It's super creepy.
