Also bear in mind that this is Sony, perhaps the "sanest" among all ITV channels.
The least amount of drama for an ITV soap is generally Sony. Some of their recent content has been quite decent (IPZN, Story 9 Months Ki), but most get canned soon because they don't bring in TRP's.
In IPZN for example
1) No dream sequences!
2) No villains among immediate family (brother, sister, BIL, aunt, uncle all positive!)
3) MU's, if any, between ML and FL get solved pretty quickly.
4) ML not toxic, doesn't manhandle FL.
5) ML and FL didn't have a hate marriage
BALH 1 was on Sony, and had plenty of drama. I hope this is tuned down in S2 (certainly appears so from what I've watched so far), but I'm always worried they'll be forced to do it for TRP.
Look at our top TRP shows- Anupamaa, Udariyaan, Imlie, Ghum- practically all of them have an EMA angle, mostly involving the ML and there's no shortage of internal family enemies for the FL.
The big elephant in the room though is the TRP system- 44,000 meters speak for a nation of 1.3 billion users, and that itself tells you how flawed the system is.
