yes the languages are somewhat the same, though in grammar or pronunciation there might be some differences and also the region makes it so that one person uses another word for something.

Like how you all write here, I can understand it. But some write with lots of abbreviations which just takes me longer to decipher as my eyes and mind are not used to it.

if you think now, what is this nonsense.. if you can understand it how can you not speak it.. well.. I can only say that this is the case.. 😆 see, to speak or write it, it is different.. you have no time to think.. and grammar and words in a different language it is just tough even if it is a related language. Just like Dutch and German. we can somewhat understand each other but having a good meaningful conversation is something else.

The sarnami language is hindi meets bhojpuri meets some other influences.

maybe in youtube you can listen to some Sarnami texts in songs perhaps?

here... let me share one of the old folk songs, which is about the pain and struggles the people went through.. it might sound funny or something, but the lyrics are actual painful ones but giving courage too..

I could share more here or aside if everyone else os bored 😆

also.. I have added a link with spoken history story -
maybe just listen to it if the lady in the clip is distracting or find something else on Google or Youtube

Thank you so much for sharing this! Specially enjoyed the second video since it also told us q bit of the history...the songs were lovely. Growing up in Kolkata, I can tell you that there is a sizeable presence of Bhojpuri speakers here. In a neighbourhood close to where i grew up the men would meet in the evenings and play on their dhols and sing and the music has a similarity in rhythm and style with the songs you have shared here.
