Maharashtrian Jewellery

I am not Maharashrian.. but I lived there for some time and I have many friends from that state.

The jewellery worn by the actresses look way to heavy. Do people really wear that heavy jewellery in real life. Every time there is some festival, they look hideous in that heavy jewellery.

I feel it because of the mismatch between the costume and jewellery. Even the hairstyle also is contributing factor.

Since this is set in Maharastra, why not go for more authentic jewellery like lakshmi haar, suryahaar.. thushi etc.

With the correct jewelry it would look more elegant. Example Kashi bai in Bajirao mastani

Kaku has at times worn authentic jewellery. Apart from her, no one. Other authentic jewellery the cast has worn is nath or nosering and chandrakor tikli ie crescent moon bindi.

These days people wear more contemporary sets .. no matter how gaudy …people abroad like more traditional stuff .. people living in tier 1 or tier 2 cities like more fancy stuff simply because they are bored of seeing their grandmothers and mothers wear them for ages ..

True... The jewellery is so hideous....

They must give lighter jewellery to the actors specially Sai ..they don't go well with her personality at all

Ekta's show, 9pm 'pious relationship' had some really decent and very close marathi attires and jewelleries'..

I am a Maharashtrian but most of our jewellery are not that heavy forget heavy even that large... Just a simple nath and thusi is enough to give a festive look... Some nath that are shown in this serial... I find them funny... kabhi kabhi kuch jewellery jo yeh log dikhate hai bohut ajeeb lagte hai ekdum aaise dhabadke dhabadke...

The show's costume designers should know that they messed up when their 21st jewellery is heavier than 18th century jewellery of a Maratha Peshwa's wife on screen.
