Not intend to discuss original here but just a thought came to my mind hence using it as a reference.

In original malini ka character had a baby from I don't know may be second or third husband for whom Imlie ka character sacrificed motherhood so that he can get the right of heir T fam.

This opens here the scope of the same here as well and there could be a possibility of baby coming.

(It's completely my opinion keeping in mind the sadistic nature of makers )

See the point of the story there was because DD character there was actually grey and much more interesting and mature. Also they had to change the story due to cast changes and everything else. Another point was the the sister's relationship was stronger and had a lot more guilt, as there the DD had become mahaan and almost enlightened in front of everyone, so this story was still plausible.

Here Mailini is so far gone that she is charcoal black with no sense of depth. And no one, and I mean no one is under the impression that she is mahaan anymore and Imlie is well aware of what the situation is like, so she is not sacrificing anything or going anywhere. So I am not worried about that storyline coming now atleast, no matter how sadistic the makers want to get.
