Aditya casts his tired eyes around the one room that is home to his entire family. Today had been a challenging day for all to say the least. Resting his head against the temple pillar he stood in silence as he watched his wife light the evening diya. Trying to garner support from her faith whilst he tried to keep away his inner demons. Every time he believed he was closer towards redemption something would happen again that would lay him astray. Such was his predicament that he felt trapped within where he stood at a cross road between his choice of owning his responsibility as a victim, a son or one of a husband. In all this bringing forth the one dilemma he has always held above all of how he could protect his loved once without causing them to come in harms way most of all his Imlie. A fight he had originally started to give back her right had today lead him to the doors for the courts.

It had not been his first experience of being at the courts. In the past he had sat outside the courtroom for hours, waiting for the victims to arrive while he observed there lawyers tend to there very needs. Talking for hours mist shuffling papers and files as they ran last minute errands. Yet that had never matters for what surprised him the most had been there openness in public about the case in question. There lack of privacy was out of the question as it was all laid out in the open for people to hear. It had been his saving grace and his foundation of striking the best news exposure that would always lead him towards his success allowing him to publish the truths as he saw fit in his news article publication in the past. Yet today Aditya wished it had been more private, for even the guard at the door could not make him feel at peace or ease his guilt he felt within.

Being brought out of his riviera he watch the policeman unlock the courtroom door, whilst he hollered for them to make there way. He watched the passerby walk in in silence till there were none left behind. The jury slowly assembled in there benches which had been situated at the far end of the corner. Each occupied seat had felt like an hour for the preying eye felt more like a stab to his fragile heart. Kunal had told him it would have been hard but he never believed he would have been so un rattled, nervous and emotional drained. The silence within the courtroom had been far worse then the commotion a few moments ago outside until he watched the judge take a seat before the proceedings began.

Aditya watched in aloofness as the judge rearranged the bench asking the jurors to keep away from the discussing the case amongst each other to not abuse the power that was bestowed upon them today by the voting public. Once again enforcing the need to focus on the evidence presented alone in order to maintain a fair system away from abuse.

Oh how he laughed as he watched the jurors listing in awe when all he could do in the situation was to feel a failure whom could not close the gap of the void he felt within. The screaming voices all lead him to one thought and one thought alone. Stealing is and was such an old fashioned word. How fickle had the term become for it was so blind up with notions of property and ownership. Yet in reality whom owns what? People whom paid you money or money you paid them? So what was the price of an human soul? It used to be priceless but what is it now?”

He watched as Kunal presented the evidence that he and Imlie had gathered of the night in question. One by one the pictures were displayed yet he has not seen Maline flinch a bit. She sat so tall and proud like it had never happened. Hanging on to her parents whom were being supported by his own. And all he could hear being echoed on the hall was “ there was no consent”. Consent was such a small word but so impactful one that could control once whole existence. Just because he was a man why was his crime being claimed as a false accusation one set to tear his family apart. Why was it being argued that he had wanted it for no man could say no. He was a victim of his own innocence, a weapon sadly used against him to shame him into acceptance. He stood accused, his silence ignored for the scream it is. The scars no one can see as his eyes look an devoid. The jurors watched on as they judge as he let them do so. Yet he felt more annoyed at himself for letting them have the control to do so. Letting the man made rules decide his faith. His mind argued back each time a question was raised with one point alone “ And what do we all do? We slave for them, ruin the most productive years of our lives chasing them, some kill from them, degrade their humanity for them. Why do laws matter if some have the power to manipulate them through the power of money and others do not?”. Money that Mrs Chaturvedi Imlie believe she would have used to silence the jurors in her favour.

Aditya wondered if he felt so bereft than how could he expect the common man to compete with the lay of the land. No wonder only 10% of rape cases were reported. When social norms are so manipulated to simply discriminate based upon gender. Prejudicial bullying was heard of but had always been hidden because of the social stigma one faced. Just because he was a man he was expected to pretend it never happened. Why was his denial seen as a sign of weakness. Why was his cry for help ignored. Today he knew why nobody has succeeded to shift this change. For stealing has become all about maintaining an unfair system. It’s not about the physical concept of the crime but the mental knowledge of it. Imlie had been right in her argument the night before for people who are educated enough to know better abuse their superior education to keep themselves at the top. They hide behind the facade of righteousness when all they intend is to cause ill.

The reporter on the ground today wanted to tell you his story. However Aditya had asked him to walk away, as he made his way out of the courts after the case had been adjourned for the day. For the reporter within him was being defensive, for he sadly could not get his voice out until he found his beloved camera at home. How silly had he been for how could he forget that his eyes had been his voice of truth. Everyday he would sit down to watch the news be displayed sharing only the partial truth they wanted one to see for there was always more going on then what was being displayed. Today Aditya knew he had to get his free will back and the only way he knew to attain this was to be a tune to his passion the one his heart always had held dear before Imlie entered his life which was his beloved pen.

Letting go of the puppet strings was a must by focusing on being self critical once again to the matter of his own self. He had always vowed he would not fall prey to there manipulations and become a victim of a expendable crime he would never commit. Waking toward his study he looked at the tattered papers flying around. The newspaper lies on the table, curled, stained with coffee marks from a time when it had been his own. Aditya looks down at it like it's the most precious part of his belongings, his mouth scrunched as his eyebrows arched.

He slowly removes the cup and looks at the wall in front. His mural shone bright, as he slowly moves his hand closer and touches the patches of ink on the wall. Each word soothing his soul as a balm of longing he has forgotten. Reading it over and over ever so gently as the dews trickle down his eyes “The truth shall set you free for it doesn’t change according to our knowledge of acceptance for shattering the silence is the key of power” Imlie he smiled as he saw the letters form at the tip of his tongue the only noise his lips would make when he felt all courage was lost.

His hope whom always is ready to remind him that this is not how his story shall end. There was nothing right about the the chewed up news paper, just looking at it on the table made his fingers curl. He struggled to straighten the piece of paper till it looked perfect. Imlie watched in the shadows as he gathered his strength. She had screwed up his work station deliberately for she knew he needed it to set him on his path. She saw him trying to read the story when his eyes widen. Her plan had worked. Just seeing what was left of his paper would set Aditya on edge again and that would simply not do. Not at all, so he listened to the cry of his soul.

Thus he scribbled away

What is consent?

Tonight the renowned journalist Aditya Kumar Tripati was taken to to the courts on investigative charges of rape. The trail proceedings opened were 12 juror members were selected at randomness. The elect few heard the opening statements of the night in question as the advocates formed the basis of there argument. Yet what stood out was the lack of compassion towards the notion of consent. Each juror looked on lost as if the crime played out was insignificant. They could not believe that a man could be a victim of marital abuse. They watched on as the issues of drugging was changed to the notion of consent. The act had been manipulated to look like one of rejection where the victim was made to look like the accused. Why would someone want to scream abuse when all one strive for is social respect. Why would one walk in harms way to destroy once dignity. We teach humanity how to defend ourself yet I ask why do we not teach each other of respect. I have survived and I shall voice out my story for the survivor I am. I shall become the light for others whom may be struggling to come forward. Your message is yours to control by becoming the journey you shall have. So just remember consent is the choice of willing to take part in a act you agree with another in knowledge based upon your own boundaries for when these are taken away rape shall simply be known as rape even if the parties envolved are married.

Smiling he felt empowered enough to run up to imlie and share his draft thoughts. After all he would not be here today if she had not held his hand. She has shifted him out of his denial by embracing his darkness for what it was all along. Silence is not a sign of weakness for it’s the power we hold within to show that we shall rise again. Speak for yourself by honouring the one you love by loving yourself a tad bit more.

Hi everyone,

The OS above is my take on the moment shared between Imlie and Aditya focusing on what Aditya maybe feeling as he sits through the the start of the trial and the demons he maybe battling within. It is my take on what I feel the episodes have tried to address through Aditya.

Please read at your own discretion for some may find the topic is a sensitive issue and one I felt where viewers were not willing to see the victim that Aditya has actually become and is due to his own innocence in understanding the fact of his relationship with Maline.

ps: not proof read as I just penned this down today will edit later.

Happy reading and so share your thoughts would love to read what you think.

Raaz 😊

Loved it raaz and really made me feel for him. I had read a real life account of someone who went through a similar situation in real life as well, and a lot of his words reflected yours today. It was beautifully poignant to think that this is the same person we so easily dismiss of being an ostrich and not using his perceptive skills to see the truth that is right in front of him. The man has gone through the worst that any person can go through - he was betrayed in the worse way by someone who he implicitly trusted for 7+ years. He assumed he knew her and what she could be capable of, not realising that it was just a facade all along to keep him in that bhram that he wanted to see. His trauma of feeling like he betrayed the other part of his soul is something that is tearing him from the inside. Facing the fact that he is a victim and not the accused will be the hardest for him - I think he still feels that Imlie is mistaken and doing what she is, only to save him. Until he believes that something wrong happened with him, the guy is not going to be able to come out of the funk he currently is in.

Thank you for such a wonderful comment. When I thought of the idea yesterday as I was watching the episodes on catch-up all I could feel was his denial and wishful thinking of wanting to escape. His whole body language spoke of his hurt and escapism. The fact that he has not yet reached the stage of acceptance shows you the battle he is fighting within. He knows he has imlie support but he is lacking the confidence in himself to be his own voice. I have felt that a lot of negativity has been given towards Aditya in Thai joinery but what I found is that woman have fought this battle for years heard and have learnt to fight back for there truth. The fact that he not only struggles with guilt and the ideology of having wronged Maline or imlie is not sitting well within him. He has always been an open book when the path has been lay out to him and that’s how he has treated his relationships.

the fact that he had lost the power to draw a line between him and Maline has caused him the victim he has become. He can only be his own self once he learns to accept the crime that has happened to him and realises that the woman he knew never cared for his consent to start.

I felt that the makers could have reconnected him to his roots and passion of journalism shown him the perspective he needs. And how he leant to become the voice of truth for others. I just believe connecting him back to his faith would have made him realise what he has overcome to stand where he is today.

A lot of blame has been put on him but what we all forget is that not every person is the same we all have flaws and so does he. The fact that people were willing for him fo lose his relationship with imlie over this was something that didn’t sit well with me for if the role was reversed we would have have expected him to fight this battle with her all the way.

I just wanted to address that he was a victim of marital rape and he on all his denial is a victim and we cannot to be anything else. It as you said well only be resolved when he wishes to close the chapter and fight the accusations that have been hurled at him. Until he doesn’t see the crime he will not be awake but I feel he is battling with imlie because he doesn’t want to see what she is showing him, her faith and presence has kept him together but his eyes say so much more then his worlds ever do.

As you said I have had several friends whom have gone through this trauma and had to fight the stigma for years and each time they stood out to voice there hurt they were told to man up or hide it behind closed doors. Simply because the family was worried about the face they will lose in there communities and social standing. There lack of support is what made them struggle with acceptance and even finally break there silence and fight back. The sad part was that each time they seek help they were turned away due to these prejudices. People will easily fight harm through scars we can see but what of the once we have to deal within. These traumas never really go away until we can openly say what we feel. I want him to have this chance to say what he feels either through his profession or a moment between him and imlie where she gathers him in her folds and tells him it will be okay as he managed to hold her when she learnt dev.

It’s a sad reality and one that I am proud the show has tried to show but I wish they were bold enough to call our Maline flaws for what they are. Do you think they ever will address these or are they going for be buried away like the rest.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts it has made this post all the more worth while for I was worried of how it may be perceived.😊
