Neha is Ishwari's 2nd child ( after Dev) & eldest daughter.

I hope the makers/ writers explore Neha's side of the story this season. Neha's character was the most interesting one in S1 but they abruptly ended her track post leap like they did with all the sisters' track.

Neha was the only one who could upfront tell Ishwari whenever she did something wrong. She would often point out Ishwari's favouritism towards her son & the way she always neglected her daughters. She was understandably bitter due to Ishwari sidelining her and always giving importance to Dev. When it came to a choice of educating her kids, Ishwari gave preference to Dev as she thought Dev would be the one who would bring them out of poverty while poor Neha had to drop out of school & look after her younger sisters when she herself was a child of 8 years or even less. She was like a mother to her younger sisters & they always looked up to her & shared a great bond with her unlike with Ishwari & Dev. It was like within the family, there were 2 families:-. one consisting of Dev & Ishwari & the other consisting of Neha, Riya & Nikki. The entire family's connect with Dev was the money/ good lifestyle he provided them with, once he became a rich businessman. There was no real emotional attachment or bond between them hence during Devakshi's 7 year separation, they weren't there for Dev. Though Dev always felt guilty that he got the love & preference from Ishwari while Neha had to sacrifice her childhood, the fact is neither Ishwari nor Dev ever acknowledged her major though indirect contribution in bringing the family out of poverty. Both mother & son would only talk about their own sacrifices. It was natural for Neha to feel bitter & frustrated with them & with life in general. She used to feel a sense of inferiority complex due to lack of education especially whenever her younger sisters would correct her when she used to mispronounce a word in English and finally one day after much hesitation she joined an English speaking class where she fell in love with her teacher & wanted to marry him. He lived in a small house with his middle class family. Dev & GKB were skeptical about Neha being able to adjust with Ranveer & his lower middle class joint family while Ishwari was all for it. Finally they did get married but got divorced after a short period as Neha wasn't willing to make adjustments or sacrifices in her life anymore & preferred a good wealthy lifestyle over love. Once she left Ranveer & returned to the Dixit house, she used to be jealous of Devakshi's happiness & love for each other. Initially when Sona was only a nutritionist to Ishwari, Neha had warmed up to her but after her separation with Ranveer, she was jealous of Sonakshi getting both the love of her life as well as the lifestyle which she craved for herself & Ranveer. Post leap, when she came to the Dixit house during Raksha bandhan, it was shown that she was happily married to a rich guy.

With Arjun ( the actor playing Ranveer) also apparently in the show, I hope they show their side of the story too as I always felt there was much more to their story which the writers wanted to show but didn't, maybe because they wanted to concentrate more on Devakshi 's story due to the main lead pair's immense popularity with the audience. I would have been pretty excited with their comeback if the original writers were still writing for the show but with the new writers I don't really have much expectations.

This is Neha! Of course she is going to hold a grudge and be spiteful! They never actually properly showed an architect for her in S1.

She was one of the most complex characters, and after Devakshi wedding, they simply made her a typical resentful sister-in-law, when actually Sona was the one who was able to reach her in her crucial moments. Neha was just destroyed and then post leap, there wasn't an actual correction in her character either.

From the looks of it, she is bringing more tension. Not surprising.

I think you already got the answer to who she is. This is just my opinion on Neha, that I am penning down here.

Neha was one of the most interesting characters of the show. The audience would sympathize with her as well as be extremely annoyed with her. She was very caustic and resentful towards both Dev and Ishwari, since she held them responsible for being neglected and treated as a second class citizen throughout. At the same time, she is a very loving sister to the younger sisters, Nikki and Riya, and a dutiful daughter to Ishwari. She cares about Dev also. Her layers are really good. She doesn't want to live in poverty as she spent her childhood that way, but she herself is not independent. So she always wanted to marry rich, but ended up marrying a poor guy, which ended in divorce.

Her connection to Sonakshi is most fascinating. Sonakshi was able to reach her and tone her down during some very tense moments and Dev is eternally grateful to Sona for that. None of them could make Neha understand the way Sona could. Sona convinced her to learn English, supported her with Ranveer, convinced her to wear the cheaper lehenga for her wedding etc. Ishwari was also taken aback by how Sona could talk to and convince Neha.

Neha, on her part also regarded Sona very nicely. She understood that Sonakshi was Dev's one true love and she understood that Dev was completely broken, separating from Sona.

Neha and Ishwari's relationship really is the most layered and takes the cake. They both love each other, but at the same time, they always know that Dev is there in between them. As much as Ishwari loves Neha, she will never be on par with Dev. Neha knows this. Neha is the only person in the show, who can stand up to Ishwari and show her the mirror. She is very upfront about all of Ishwari's hypocrisy, especially related to Dev. As much of a happy family the Dixits tried to be, Neha was always there to remind them that they are not perfect. As much as the perfect mother Ishwari projected herself to be, Neha was there to remind her that she wasn't.

And in this aspect, Sonakshi would have been the perfect glue, bringing Neha, Dev and Ishwari together in the real sense. However, as always, Neha's layers were completely destroyed after Devakshi wedding and she was just reduced to a jealous sister-in-law, disliking Sona to the max. That's ITV for you.

After Devakshi wedding, two very interesting characters were destroyed, one was Neha, the other was Elena.

Interesting take on Neha's character. Seems promising if they are going to continue with her story. I understand why they might have stopped or ruined her track...it had the potential to show Ishwari and Dev's bad side. As in the viewers would know how hollow their struggles sound as compared to how greatly they portay it.

This is an honest opinion but actually Dev had a pretty good childhood. He went got proper education, prolly didn't have to look after house duties till he came of age(I could be wrong... correct me if I am) and of course was the favoured child. Not saying that he didn't suffer. He might have suffered seeing his mother working constantly and getting humiliated. It has to leave a mental trauma. But iska kuch zyada hi dikhaya hai. That attachment between mother and son is unhealthy.

I would be very happy if that happened. They never covered Neha's story properly in S1 post leap.

Okay, I forgot to mention one very important thing about Neha:

Neha chooses to be childless. Because she had to take care of her two sisters throughput, she is determined to live the rest of her life for herself and never be boggled down with a child. Post leap, the show did not cover how, but she eventually was married to someone and continued to remain childless by choice.

This is a very significant aspect that can be covered by the show: the importance Motherhood by choice and not as a thing that has to happen, just because someone is married.

This part is not true. Dev did struggle a lot, he used to work part time to shoulder responsibilities of the household, right from the time his father died, around 8-10 years of age. He used to deliver newspapers and do jobs like that.

ah yes neha's story and i personally think even riya's story needed so much fleshing out. it was dropped after leap proabably because the new writers couldn't handle the complexities.

i still can't beleive vicky got a whole arc but neha was just dropped.

since durjoy left there genuinely has been no grey characters. all were either completely right or wrong.

ishu was wrong.

sona was always right (wasn't true pre leap)

dev was always wrong but in the eyes of the writers he was always right

neha was wrong

asha was always right

just the writing dropped so significantly i can't blame my family when they stopped watching it mid season 1
