Okay today I got the reason why I am still invested in Adi and Imlie's relationship. Today I realised why despite being the clueless husband we were all complaining about, I still feel that Adi is one of the most honest and beautiful characters I have seen on ITV. Aaj Adi ne phir se prove kiya that despite what happened, he still retains that core that drew me his character in the first place.
The episode starts where it left off yesterday. Adi asks Imlie if she still trusts him and she says that lighting a diya for him is a habit she cannot break, the same way that loving Malini is a habit he cannot break. Adi clarifies to Imlie that he never loved Malini even her saath that he was habituated with, he left a long time back and all he remembers is Imlie and no one else. When Imlie asks how he forgot her yesterday, he again tries to assure her that last night also all he can remember about last night was being with her and wanting to come to her, which means even with Malini this guy must have done only Imlie jaap and kuch nahi hua inke beech
. Imlie asks how he could not differentiate between Malini and Imlie - setting up the stage for Imlie finding that saree that Malini wore last night. Her dialogues means that Imlie is the one who is going to prove to everyone that all this was done jaan bujhkar by Malini - even convincing her that Adi chose Malini over Imlie while being inebriated.
Imlie tells Adi to keep her in his memories only and let her go, which prompts Adi to tell her that their rishta is no bandhan or ulja hua dhaaga that she can just break and leave him. He asks her to trust him once again, to which Imlie asks how. Imlie reminds him that even Ramji asked Sita to give agni pariksha, toh here she knows he is wrong, how can she let things go. Adi keeps trying to keep the physical connection between them, first by placing his hands on her shoulders to assure her, which she moves away from, showing she is not able to trust him. Then almost by force he holds her hand to hold on to their relationship. The way Adi just was not able to let go, showed that this guy will do anything to hold on to his relationship with Imlie. But there also, at this time Imlie makes him let go, symbolizing that right now she does not want to hold on to this relationship which is only giving her pain. Beautifully enacted by both GM and ST, this scene had so many undercurrents and angst done really well.
Malini comes to put bhang in the moment. Adi gives her his token apology and she gives him the "Dosti main no sorry no thank you" type dialogue. Despite everything, Adi innocently even now asks her how should he convince Imlie to forgive him, while deciding to do something that will ensure both parties are given justice. Malini assumes she has won and all her wishes will come true - oh she still does not know Adi, yet feels that she knows him inside out. The delusions this woman lives in is going to shatter very soon
Malini gets together with her mom to burn the saree, but Dev comes there before it is fully burnt. AC stuffs the remaining bit of the saree in the trunk of her car, but a portion of it is shown latkoing outside, mainly for either Imlie or someone from her family to see.
Dev goes to speak with both Imlie and Malini, trying to convince both girls to leave Adi and hold on to their "sisterly bond"
, basically echoing the voice of the fandom that loves to hate Adi and wants both women to leave him. That shocks Malini, who does not want to give up her favourite toy, especially now that she feels she is so close to getting it back for herself. Imlie right now is too confused to understand anything and just decides to leave for sanity and the family's izzat.
As Imlie is leaving with her potli, Adi tries to stop her in every way possible. He keeps trying to reiterate to her that this is her house and she cannot leave him and go. Uspar we get the T family bdrama where they try to give Imlie money and jewels, justifying that they will not allow anything wrong to happen with her. Adi threatens to leave the house with Imlie if sge leaves, to which his mom again argues with him and tries to convince him to let her go. But today Imlie was just done and she responded to every damn thing she had been told all this while.
Imlie reminds Aparna that whether she accepts her or not, this is her sasural. How once to protect their izzat she hid everything and kept quiet and today knowing everything she is quietly leaving. All she ever wanted was aashirwaad from her sasural, but if Aparna cannot give her even that, she will leave "garib" without that, the way she came as a "garib" in the house. Mitthi joins the taunting session today, telling the T's that she was quiet as they gave a home to her girl all this while, but seeing their behaviour today, she realises that they do not deserve Imlie as their bahu and that they will realise her value only after she leaves - giving a premonition that the T's will soon find out that they're losing a diamond in exchange for pital be chada gold.
As Mitthi leaves with Imlie, Adi tries to hold in to her hand, not allowing her to leave. AC threatens to send Adi to jail on molestation charges, which worries his family. Adi then plays his trump card saying that he is willing to go to jail for his actions. That one line was enough to reinforce why we still love this guy. Adi tells Imlie that he deserves to go to jail for breaking all the promises he made to his wife and is willing to go right now. That frightens Malini and AC to prompt Malini to emotionally blackmail Adi and Aparna to think about her rather than only himself. Malini ki jo phati us waqt, it was a freaking treat to watch.
The precap is the same as it was yesterday, but I am sure that Adi will do something to either get her back or gi with her. This guy right now has his game face on, let's see what else he does to convince his wife to come back to him this week.
