Episode 31
Probably one of those episodes which we all have waited for irrespective of whether we like the show or characters or not. Thank You makers, I was scared that Farhad will die before his mother meets him, thank you for not doing this, for reuniting a physically fit Farhad with his mother, and thank you that we will have an extended conversation too.
Mahi-Sikka
So as everyone predicted the wedding preparations are ON. One thing which I always noticed is that both Mahi-Sikka love their families and want to make them happy, but you can only do that and support the hypocrisy of your family if you have zero spine. Here Mahi is completely aware that her family's happiness is not an emotional satisfaction but a political gain, and she still chooses to keep quiet because she has to be in good books of not only her 3 months old saas but her own family too? What kind of bizzare logic, and stubbornness is this? Her love for Farhad aside, what is the point of being self sacrificial goat? Both her mother and her saas has given her the privilege to say her decision, there was no force here at least, they asked her multiple times, Sikandar asked her too, she could have asked Sikandar to back off and I am sure he would have, but no, what is this bizzare and annoying desire of being quiet just because they assumed something? Mahi was always a character with zero depth but still I tried to connect with her, her self victimization, her miseries, but now she is just plane silly and annoying, just crying buckets does not evoke sympathy, the character has to make sense, the writer went all so wrong with Mahi's character that even her mother and her bhabi comes off as more like a woman of substance. Where was Mahi's conscience when she fooled and humiliated Farhad, where was the conscience when she broke up Romana and Sikka without even informing Sikka? Also, even though I am glad that there was no begging for forgiveness from either Mahi or Farhad for the leading on or baddua, but would not one think that if Mahi was actually guilty and cared for Farhad, she would have somehow informed Nisar uncle about his whereabouts? She blames herself for ruining Farhad only because he gave baddua or is it because she genuinely was sorry for what she did to him?
Sikandar just keeps stooping lower, marry or die, who cares, but what is this sudden crazy desire of making Romana witness this shithole of an alliance? Why? Ohh why? This woman clearly told you that she loved you, she left because you could not accept her, what is this mockery of wanting to make her witness this? I do not understand why did Romana even love him? And if he loves her, ye kaisi mohabbat hai? Same goes for Mahi, if Farhad is her dil ki dhadkan (as bhabi said), ye kaisi mohabbat hai that you see your mohabbat rotting like a homeless and all you do is self pity and sulk in the glory of being a bechari instead of taking a stand for yourself or trying to use your sources to inform his family?
One thing is very clear, that the writer definitely wanted to show an angle where a time comes in life, when you understand someone's value but it is too late, I fear Mahi will suffer badly, the day she takes a stand it will be too late, either he will be gone (I really hope he does) or die. The best message of the show will be if Farhad actually rejects Mahi and goes back, if Mahi ever confesses then he can respectfully tell her that it does not matter anymore, and now he is over with his desires, he wants to start afresh, if the writer genuinely wants to give a message then this shall be it, killing Farhad or killing Mahi will only mean that you suffer all you life and even in your death for someone who does not value you, which is unfair and not what anybody should want to follow.
Farhad
So shaadi ka laddo issbar bhi milgaya janab ko 🤣. I mean can this be much more bizarre than this? He actually smile when he ate the sweet thinking it was Rom-Sik wedding, but later on the shocker. I do not know whether i should feel bad or just angry, but the moment he sees her eyes all teary and cannot fake his smile, it bothered me, Farhad (at least this time) does not deserve to witness all this, he should go back, please, go back Farhad, you are not needed or valued upon here, please go back.
I loved how when he gave the dua, the baddua echoed in his mind, life came to a full circle, he does regret seeing her as a widow, and it hurts even more because deep down he knew she herself was not happy, but yes, he does want to see her happy, always.
I absolutely loved the entire shot of Noora and Amma simultaneously entering the shrine and even though none of them knew they would find Farhad, but the walk from the gate towards Farhad's site was so so thrilling, kept me at the edge of my seat. Farhad visibly numb and cold, after being broken about Mahi's marriage, he was not shedding tears, I liked how he was so cold and he holds his chest because it physically hurt him to process everything and he just sits there and has a blank stare, whereas Amma ends up at him only to beg for getting her son back. I cried at this whole scene, the way she said that 'he was my beautiful prince and he loved me so much, but he left me' 😭and Farhad realizing that it is his mother and he swallowed his tears to gather the courage to look at her, ohh my my, both Asma Abbas and Feroze, excellent excellent excellent, and Feroze just rises above the script here, anybody watching it without any prior knowledge would think that even he waited to meet his mother this desperately, it was so satisfying to just see the fact that he turned around to look at her knowingly that she is none other than his mother.😭
I will forever cherish this whole sequence, and I expect a full fledged family conversation next week, And I am curious to see how Farhad convinces his family of not going back, I doubt his mother will even agree to live him alone anymore and go back. It will be best if she does not and stays back with him, which will somehow force him to go back.
I have loved all the recent episodes and it makes me say that keeping the drag aside, even though miserable the show does have a very heart breaking plot where both love and loss is depicted by the characters, and this week, Farhad's numb eyes and blank stare made me feel that soon he will be indifferent to Mahi and slowly he will grab the idea of only prostrating to God and stop worshipping Mahi, even Romana said the same thing about only loving as a soulmate, and even the teaser next week hints that he is probably in the zone of not desiring to see her anymore, or win her love, it is more about how he can love her yet have no resentment and bitterness.
The episode was great, full points to Asma Abbas and Feroze, even Wasim Abbas and Sohail did so well, however, for the first time I felt like Iqra overacted in the dil kabu scene, I could be wrong, but because I laughed so much there, I do not know whether it was just Mahi or even the acting, but I laughed a lot when I should have felt her pain 😆
