Exactly my point. It can also be that man's brother. If you wanted us to answer 'that man himself' then you should have mentioned that he is the only son and he does not have any siblings

Nope just accepting the man himself. It didn't need to say that he had no siblings. Brain teasers aren't about overcomplicating matters. When there is no info provided about other people, then you automatically should use the simplest answer even if it appears weird. In this case, even though the man talking about himself in third person appears weird, given no info about siblings, the simplest answer was himself.
