I may be in a minority of 1, but she was a freer singer when she was a kid. I think people put her under pressure initially in IL12 and she kind of lost her free spirited approach. Vishal Dadlani's antics did not help one bit. Every year he has this very strong like and dislike for some contestants. Aru fell in the dislike bracket and his reluctance to acknowledge her singing put her under too much pressure.

Possibly so. I felt that the channel / producer's overwhelming desire to create an image for each contestant made them straitjacket each one into some form of scripted behaviour and song choices. Arunita's free spirited singing and interaction with the Judges and with Jishu / Adi, the range of songs she sang, etc. PD's constant "zero expressions" refrain, Nihal's "forgetfulness" are examples of this.
Maybe you are right- but even in Saregamapa Hindi - Like Shaan said - aisa lagta jaise soch soch kar ga rahi hai' - (whether she was getting it perfectly right )- and once or twice even Alka said it - but mostly she sang freely - and even in Indian Idol sometimes she tried too hard to get it right, and some songs did sing freely - but in my opinion- it was not because of pressure from other people , not even Vishal, it is because of her own sense of perfection.Originally posted by: Realityshow

Yes but the big difference between Saregamapa and Indian Idol was - versatility. Whereas in Saregamapa she sang many different types of songs - in Indian Idol they just did not let her do that - show her versatility.Originally posted by: Realityshow

Idol had a lot of +70's guests. So, female singers had to sing a lot of Lata songs. That was one reason.
The 2nd was that she was winning the internet and Sony was not particularly happy with that. She was like a poisoned delicacy. They needed her for the ratings and could not digest her success at the same time. So giving her foot tapping numbers was not on.
