Karan Mathur may be najayes illegitimate son of Arjun Dad and some Mathur family helped him to grow up. Possibility. Does NOT looks like plain and simple friendship wala enmity or jealousy. One possible reason Arjun Dad was quite and did not defend Arjun when he was in trouble.

Hmm, I was thinking more along the lines of friendship but Karan did something illegal of which Arjun protested against therefore Karan might've staged the controversy against Arjun.

I don't think it could be family-based/illegitimacy based reasons but Idk.
