Because friendship means unconditional and selfless support and love. But in this case Duryodhana made Karna his friend just to defeat Pandavas and Karna though knowing that his friend is wrong followed him blindly just because he supported him in front of society. Whereas true friends never support you in wrong. So we can't call this a friendship in true sense but a deal where you help me against my enemy and I will give you respect in return.
