I think he went through a bad time after his last big show like he not getting proper roles. Actors of his age or older than him still get young roles but him getting 40+ role is shocking. Looks like he accepted the role out of desperation and out of work for long. After many overrated or too much younger actors started getting lead roles talented actors like him stopped getting good roles. It's weird that his heroine directly shifted from Kritika Kamra to Rupali Ganguly.

I dont think usne out of desperation liya hoga as anupamaa me lead role karne ka bhi alag hi fayda hai.... He is not gonna play parent to samar/toshu/pakhi..... He will be there for anupamas so aisa nhi hai ki yrh father ka role hai

Then show is no.1 in itv with big margin so obiviously koi bhi karna chahega plus issi role ke liye pahle ronit roya, ram kapoor jese actors ka naam saamne aaya tha so dont you think its big opportunity for him
