I felt the bed weigh down as Shahzaib climbed in, under the duvet. My eyes closed harshly when I felt him put his arm around my waist, pulling me to him, my back against his chest.

‘Isra?’ He whispered in my ear. ‘What’s the matter?’

‘Shahzaib if I have to spell everything out for you, then there is legit no point.’ I resisted his attempts to turn me towards him. But that was futile. Soon enough we were lying facing each other, he stroking my cheek, coaxing me to say something. ‘Shahzaib, I was here to fix things with you, to put everything behind and to clear your doubts. And what did you do?’

‘Bring up Nimra. I am so sorry.’

‘No Shahzaib. It is not about sorry anymore. That woman has attacked me multiple times and even after knowing that you are sympathising with her?’

‘Multiple times?’ His frown deepened. ‘Just the once near the pool?’

I laughed dryly, ‘No. The hospital when you were admitted, the pool, and today in the morning she tried to strangle me.’

He pulled away so that he could see my face, ‘How did you know?’

‘Who?’ He asked me, still in the same embrace as before.

‘Never you mind. I have my allies to help me out here.’ I ran my fingers in his hair. My voice dropped an octave, ‘She wants you.’

‘But I don’t.’ He said earnestly. ‘Never have, never will.’

‘She still tries,’ I said. ‘What if she becomes successful?’

‘Hey hey hey,’ he coaxed me. ‘Never okay? The only woman I want and love is right here in my arms, with her legs around me. There will never be anyone else.’

I let out a hysterical giggle, resting my forehead against his. But it went as soon as it came. ‘What if they force you?’ I whispered. ‘All of them?’

‘They can try whatever they want but they forget one thing.’

‘What is that?’

‘I am yours.’
