Mujhe nahi lagta Ani wanted the dushmani ever. Even in the unsent letters he is scared of what this will demand of him.

Ani isn't immersed in this dushmani out of his own wish. He has legit been put in a position where the only options are fight or die. And if his death would have solved the dushmani, he would have given up his life too, but he knows that TM-CC will not stop. He rightfully distrusts them after the poison and the peace proposal. And Ani only picked up the gun when peace failed. He picked up the gun to protect, not to attack. And in the mirror scene, you can see how personally Ani takes the death of each and every innocent in this dushmani.

So yes, Ani isn't agreeing to end the dushmani. But that is not because he wants to continue it out of choice. But rather, he doesn't trust the other side to live up to their part of the bargain.
