Engagement is sagai.

Roka/Cheka are the terms used when the parents meet each other, fix marriage, give a gift to the other side and announce that the marriage is fixed to close members of the family... Engagement/sagai is more about exchanging rings and announcing it to the whole world...I dont think all Indian cultures had engagement as a ritual before...But then now everyone does it..ROka/Cheka are basic rituals..
