I'm not even disappointed that we didn't get a dance sequence KD teased us with.
I AM DISAPPOINTED because they couldn't even get shiva to be a rational human being.
This 💯
I'm not asking for Shiva and Raavi's romance because quite honestly it would be very out of place at the moment. I'm just asking for Shiva and Raavi to have a decent conversation where Shiva is not unnecessarily angry and Raavi is not too sympathetic for her own good...
CVs have made caricatures of what all the characters formerly were. They used to be three dimensional with flaws and strengths...
Raavi was a bubbly girl who was shown to be too trusting. She was shown to be someone who shows Shiva his place, especially all the times her eyes glowed with happiness whenever she one upped Shiva pre-marriage. After marriage, she still shared this push and pull relationship where she would joke around with him and get angry if he acted out... but since returning to Somnath, she's been too dobi... where's the girl who did nautanki whenever she didn't get her way?
I envisioned this whole arc to be Shiva feeling sad/angry at Sneha's words, and Raavi playing a ton of different pranks to get Shiva's attention from pretending to get hurt to pretending to be scared to a chipkali so she could grab onto Shiva's vest and whisper, "You really are a superhero, Chattan Pandya" Her nautanki side was what made me fall in love with her in the first place!! The whole "If I don't marry Dev, I will throw myself in front of a truck" was somehow charming... I didn't feel in the slightest mad, rather I felt amused by her childish stubbornness.
Where is this girl!?!?!? Why is she replaced with someone who is so self-sacrificing. Why doesn't she have any self-respect when her husband repeatedly pushes her away while not giving her the time to explain her side of the story... Why doesn't she hold him to the same standards his Bhabi holds him?
As for Shiva, as I mentioned before, his whole character arc is designed to represent a man who's given up a lot for his family. Despite smelling like masalas, despite not getting an MBA like his brother, despite looking unruly... he was fully accepting of his own self. He knew his strengths and weaknesses, and he protected his family to his core. It's why when Raavi came to his house for the first time, he reminded everyone of Raavi's worth in the house. Because despite it all, he cared and cherished family... and somewhere deep in his heart, he understood that Raavi was now his.
Today's push was completely characterless. All the buildup that we've seen for his character was destroyed with that one action. For someone who gets angry at others for talking smack about his bhabi, he should be angry at those who took smack about him and his wife. The Shiva I know would've taken his hand away from Raavi and walked away silently. He wouldn't have pushed her away... not when he saved her countless times in the past...
Sorry for the rant... I am soo mad 😡
