Vansh was tired.
Tired of serving the people who did not care about him
Tired of protecting the people who did not deserve it
Many a day, he had dodged death by inches for them and had come home to be in the receiving end of their taunts
On one such day, lying on his beautiful wife’s lap, who was humming a soothing tune, her hands softly running through his hair, He voiced out the one question he always wanted to ask
Should I give up?
Riddhima smiled
Is that what you want?
Maybe
She didn’t say anything
And he didn't expect her to
They both knew that he could never give up
He was bound
Bound by the promise he made to his father, made to himself
And Vansh Rai Singhania never went back on his promise
Yet, sometimes he had his doubts
His heart wavered
He knew he was the shield for his family,
But he also desired to be protected, to feel safe
For once, he wanted someone to hold him in their arms and assure him that he is secured.
Riddhima -
Ab kya soch rahe ho
Vansh hesitated
Kuch nahi
He would never reveal these feelings to her
He knew all about her Hadd se zyada ishq for him
And if there was one thing he could not handle
It was putting her in harm’s way.
He took his head off her lap, smiled and turned to leave for the restroom when Riddhima held his hand
She backed him to a wall keeping both her hands on either side of him and said
I will protect you
Vansh was taken aback
Riddhima –
I will protect you
So that the world can’t touch you
Do what you want to do,
Protect them
For I know you can never turn your back on them
And I,
I will protect YOU,
Just like this
Vansh was overwhelmed
His eyes bright with unshed tears
She stood on her toes and kissed his forehead silently promising that she will always be by his side and will come between him and whatever tries to hurt him.
And for once in his life, Vansh felt protected.
