Before we let her cut the cake, let me tell you the story behind how this cake came to be....
The smell was nice, but Loki couldn't quite place the flavor for the cake. It could be anything from chocolate to vanilla, or from strawberry to butterscotch. Maybe Wanda hadn't decided on the flavor yet.
Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, was conjuring and baking a beautiful birthday cake with utmost concentration using her chaos magic and reality warping abilities. The cake looked creamy and was dripping with all kinds of flavors from the multiverse.
Bucky, Natasha and Vision were sprawled on the nearby table in the large kitchen, busy with the birthday party.
Loki was bored. Nobody would let him near their task given his mischievous reputation. A smile crept up his lips as an idea popped in his head to spook the wonderful Avengers.
He went near Wanda, shapeshifted and cooed in a cautious female voice, "What's cooking, mate?"
Wanda's concentration broke. She gasped when she saw Shibani asking Wanda what was cooking. Oh no, her surprise was ruined! Her anxiety made the cake vanish into oblivion. Bucky, Vision, and Natasha, looked horrified. Then they saw that it was Loki who had tricked them.

Loki burst out laughing at their horrified expressions, and returned to his original form.
"Oh my God, look at your faces. You thought it was Shibani and," he continued laughing until a super solid steely punch of Bucky's vibranium arm landed on his face.
"Hey, no need to get violent," Loki rubbed his nose, "It was only a harmless prank."
"Harmless prank?" Bucky said from a distance while his left arm held Loki's collar, "It wasn't harmless. Open your eyes and see, the cake Wanda prepared is gone."
The cake was indeed gone. Loki felt bad, but he still defended himself in a small voice, "Well, it's your fault that I was bored,"
"The cake," Wanda sobbed "I had put all her favorite flavors in it. It had a multiversal flavor," The cake was gone; the interruption vanished the cake from existence.
Natasha comforted Wanda, Vision scanned the multiverse with his super-intelligence to trace where the cake went. His face dropped at what he found.
"The cake has gone into an alternate timeline, the one in which Loki never interrupted it. I am afraid, if we want that cake, we have to get it from there," said Vision.
"For God's sake Wanda, you are the Scarlet Witch. Can't you bake it again?" Loki asked.
"No, I am afraid. If she bakes it again, it won't be the same one. It was one of its kind," said Natasha, Wanda nodded. She had baked a truly unique cake for the unique birthday girl.
Loki rolled his eyes, "Fine. I am the God of Mischief, nothing is impossible for me. I will teleport back in time and get the cake back,"
He created a projection to teleport to the right instant of time, when Natasha shouted "Wait!", to stop Loki, which he did not heed and he left.
"What is it?" Bucky asked.
"Loki shouldn't have gone. He isn't supposed to interrupt in that timeline. If he goes and interrupts once again,"
"Him and the cake will be trapped forever in the time warp," Wanda completed Natasha's sentence horrified as realization set in.
Loki couldn't move, he and the cake kept appearing and reappearing at one place like he was trapped in a time warp. Maybe that's what Natasha wanted to warn him about. He should have listened to her.
Loki tried to create a projection to travel back to the future, but it didn't work.
"We need a plan to get the cake and Loki back," Natasha said.
"I have an idea," said Wanda, "I can conjure a channel for you to travel back in time, but I can't go along with you or the channel will get closed in the time warp."
"Ok, Wanda will create a channel for us and keep it open, while the rest of us go in. Bucky, you will fetch the cake, Vision and I will rescue Loki." Natasha said.
Bucky and Vision agreed as she explained the rest of her plan.
The three Avengers went through the time channel conjured by the Scarlet Witch and proceeded in their mission. Bucky, being a skilled marksman, made a perfect aim to fetch the cake. Natasha punched into Loki's time warp to knock it out. Unfortunately it rendered Loki unconscious too, but it was a risk worth taking. Vision used his super-speed to rescue Loki, and lead the others back, through the time channel.
They had to apply all their super-strength to carry it out, as nothing is as powerful as time. While they carried out their task, their time variants in the alternate timeline looked on at the commotion confused.
After what seemed like an eternity, Bucky, Natasha and Vision re-entered the kitchen. Bucky held the unique multiversal flavored birthday cake delicately in his vibranium arm, imagining the birthday girl's reaction when they will give it to her. Natasha and Vision held an unconscious Loki back to his time. With beads of sweat on their foreheads, they all looked pleased at their success. Wanda was about to close the time channel when she felt something didn't add up.
"Guys, where is Loki?" Wanda asked.
Natasha and Vision saw that they were holding an unconscious Sylvie. When did Loki turn into Sylvie? It meant only one thing, that they had gone into a different multiversal past, and brought back a different version of both the cake and Loki (or more precisely, Lady Loki).
Outside the kitchen door, Shibani couldn't contain her excitement. She was dying to know what her favorite Marvel heroes were doing for her birthday.
She tiptoed into the kitchen. There was an odd, but delicious flavor. Must be the birthday cake. She approached Wanda and the others, and spoke in a cautious voice,
"What's cooking mate?"
Wanda, Natasha, Bucky and Vision looked horrified as the cake disappeared again. As if on cue, Sylvie opened her eyes, looked around confused and said, "I think that was my line,"
Wanda's time channel was still open. As if by magic, the original Loki walked into the kitchen with Shibani's original birthday cake.
"How did you do that?" Bucky asked, impressed.
"Well, I am a God, I can do anything," Loki answered.
"I know how he did that," said Vision, "Wanda's time channel created similar fissures in time and space of various parallel universes, it helped Loki escape the time warp."
"Marvel-us, 10 points to Gryffindor,"
"I thought the theme was Marvel,"
They bantered on. All the time travel had added more sweet flavor into the cake. All of them, and the birthday girl had a wonderful cake time.
