Beautiful review Amna muftis shared on her fb wall.
i have a lot of thoughts about #dilnaumeedtohnahi which i will express in my vlog when i make but for the time being, all i’m filled with is regret. why don’t our good shows get the love they deserve? did you hear noor ul hassan’s voice being uneven? there was a problem with the dubbing. did you see the conversation between jimmy and qazi sab and zulfi just while sitting in front of each other? now if this was a netflix original they’d be chasing each other all over balconies and having this back and forth. you think amna mufti couldn’t have written that or kashif nisar couldn’t have shot it or omair rana or wahaj ali or noor ul hassan couldn’t have executed it? of course they could have. you know what we don’t have? money. please stop saying that our content isn’t good. this was a drama about trafficking women, losing loved ones, coming back full circle to knowing what is the origin story of perceived villains etc etc. it’s a peek into society with empathy and courage. but it didn’t get the love it deserve. people who say they want to see good content didn’t even watch it. people who keep saying ‘where are good writers’ didn’t invest in this or push it on their main channels..? i know there must be a lot of complications to bringing a show like this to the front but someone’s gotta do it? also why can’t we have less of the sloppy love stories and more real stories? why can’t we have all that and more? the issue isn’t that our content isn’t great. the issue is that we don’t have infrastructure, money and whoever does dare to do something different is either pulled down by our own people or ignored completely.
here’s hoping more content like this show comes and we get to see better television and quality television.
