Sorry to interject myself here! I was just about to write another comment along similar lines, so thought to put it here rather than elsewhere.
Before I get to the scene you are talking about, I thought one thing was really clear in today's episode. And that is Virat's trust for Sai. Throughout all the accusations the family members were throwing at Sai, Virat's underlying expression was one of fear. Even when Sonali and Pakhi made the cheap comments about Ajinkya, Virat looked a little insecure yes, but more than that, he looked worried out of his mind for the wellbeing of his wife. The little nod he gave when Shivani said that Sai might have gone out for some important work spoke volumes. He knows that Sai would never do anything wrong despite how stubborn and impulsive she can be. Like you said, he also defended her in front of the family whether it was telling Pakhi that it was Sai's own money or just simply telling everyone to shut up and that he was going to go look for her. This has been a much welcome change since the post-Harini bday hungama. Virat is no longer silent in the face of his family insulting Sai...and to me, this shows how his feelings have deepened and how this love has become even more real for him. I spoke about the symbolism of Virat standing in front of Sai on her birthday as a shield last week, and so far it is rendering true. I hope that whatever massive fight is upcoming between SaiRat, it remains between just the two of them. Virat has made it very clear that he will not listen to anyone's instigation against Sai...and especially not Pakhi's.
Sorry for going on that tangent. I was having too much fun making fun of the nasha, so didn't get a chance to write this serious post 😆
Coming to the doorstep scene. I actually saw it differently than you, Laksh. It did not rub me the wrong way at all. I don't think this can be compared to the ousting or the Pulkit drama. In those moments, Virat was acting out of anger and impulsivity. He knew he was hurting Sai, but in those moments it seemed as if he did not care. He was seeing Sai's pain, but he was so clouded in his own emotions, that he did not even realize what he himself was doing. I'm not trying to justify his actions, because they were unacceptable. But, we have to accept these parts of his personality, and they are heightened towards Sai, because his love for her is also higher than any other relationship he has in his life.
I think that today, he put his arm out because he wanted an immediate answer from Sai. He was so terrified for her, that he needed to know where she had been right then and there. I think it was more a display of urgency. Also, perhaps he wanted to know the truth before she got inside so he could protect her. I also got that sense, but I don't know if that's just me. When Sai told aai that he wasn't letting her enter her own house (which by the way I loved how she considers this to be her home now), Virat said that's not what he was doing. I think that it might have bothered you because of its resemblance to his past actions (especially the ousting) even though this time it was harmless in my opinion.
