I beg to differ. She certainly looks quite manic and not normal. It looks far beyond just pure selfishness, self-centered bahviour and ego and zidd. may be it's the actress who is not getting it right but what I see is manic behaviour and looks. Plus narcissism absolutely!

I agree somewhat, although I am no expert, but certainly, this behaviour is not normal the way she is lying left, right and centre, to everyone, She is very manipulative.

Though its a very sensitive topic, but here is the definition of narcissism :

Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others.

and most of this fits Jasmine's character to Well these days.

There's a difference between what seems and what is. Such claims require medical diagnosis. A clinical diagnosis is lot more than just mere observation. Also her behaviour is not that intense to be labelled.

Jasmine's character overall is not written well and has many inconsistencies. Thus, her behaviour can't be attributed to a disorder. Besides it's ultimately a serial. Very few writers actually manage to keep personalities consistent even through character growth. So her erratic behaviour will hardly make sense.

Even Tejo's character has contradictions which are unrealistic to say the least. In the beginning she's shown to be short tempered and quite judgemental with hardly any maturity and rationality displayed however when it comes to her family she's very easily persuaded, hardly assertive. She's also shown to be short tempered which comes in front of Fateh, but a short tempered person will always react no matter what. This side never comes in front of the family. Her blind love is again too out of character. Someone who is supposed to be very strongly principled would always stick to them regardless of what happens.

Being from Psychology background I would tell you one thing that will make it clear. No one goes strictly by such definitions when diagnosing someone. Saying that someone is suffering from a particular disorder is claimed only after proper objective assessment. Every person is different, thus same behaviour shown by 2 different people can have 2 completely different reasons. And exact same reasoning can lead to opposite reactions as well. So no professional just keeps a list and ticks off those while analysing someone. A lot of factors go in while making such a judgement.

Also the definition you have used here is a general definition, not a clinical definition. Their purposes differ.

Conclusion is that ITV can never be a reference point to understand what a disorder might look like. NEVER. Because the characters lack the depth required to make them realistic.

I think she means that we shouldn’t be ableist because “Ableism is the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior.” Though we as haters of Jasmin don’t have intentions to hurt those that suffer from mental conditions. We are all in for combatting mental health stigma. It’s probably better to describe Jasmine as a devil in disguise, pure evil instead of labeling her as abnormal.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. There's already a lot of misconceptions when it comes to mental health, don't need anymore additional information that would only add on the stigma attached to it.
