Are the songs repeated with different contestants because

1) limited copyright fees paid

2) highlight comparisons between contestants which can work for or against the contestant singing the repeat

None of these. They know people are going to watch what ever these contestants sing so no need to spend more money or effort. Just using their resources efficiently.
