Climax of Swades and Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani

I don't really remember what happened in climax of YJHD, IIRC then Ranbir quit his dream job

Mohan quit his job in NASA, they didn't show his different career path, I am certain he didn't fight dangals for a living

The question is, would you take the decision these two did?

If I earned enough to invest in like Jeevan Saral , then may be..

Precisely why I don't like the ending of Swades, an otherwise fine film. Mohan's character made the choice that he did, but the film is too preachy at places, coaxing all expatriates to come back to their country. 🤔

Anyway, Mohan was a highly qualified indivual so I am sure he managed to get some job to support his family. They just don't explicitly show it in the film's ending.

I don't even know what kind of job Bunny would get/be satisfied with after rejecting his dream job. He was a travel videographer, and that career path doesn't go well at as with a doctor/surgeon. I think majority of people agree that YJHD needs a realistic sequel where Bunny and Naina get a divorce😆

Already did take a decision similar to Mohan myself, despite being told not to do it by a lot of people. So personally, that move totally resonates with me. I had plenty of friends in Canada, an active social life and its an absolutely stunning country, but the satisfaction of being around family and in India just couldn't be fulfilled. Doesn't make me or Mohan better or worse than any other NRI for taking such a decision. I totally get the desire to settle abroad as well - simple day to day things are so much smoother and convenient.

Didn't Bunny say to Naina k mein ab bhi wohi sapne dekh Raha hoon with you by my side? So he really didn't plan on quitting, maybe just altering his plans to fit in Naina's

As for Mohan, what he did wasn't really uncommon.. a lot of people feel homesick/ urge to do something for their country after they have enjoyed the riches of the foreign land... Off topic but an example will be Junaid Jamshed.. the guy gave up a flourishing music career only because he heard people going away from religion due to his music. This just shows that sometimes it takes a mere trigger for people to completely change their course and for Mohan that trigger was seeing tge poverty and class difference and the fact that he really could make a difference in his small way.. also he does mention that he had various employment options in India too.. he could take his career ahead and also do good

Dont know why I feel Bunny of Yeh Jawani hai Deewani was extremely selfish and I couldnt connect with his realization about importance of everything else in life.

Swadesh seemed preachy but it's easy to connect to his realization

On the topic specifically I have seen people leaving their first career choice for second in order to be their loved ones and fulfil other responsibilities.
