will answer after last chapter.
Then I don't understand the problem here.
Chapter 14
R- Fast… drive fast…drive fast… Nothing will happen to you Pallavi. Nothing will happen to you. I am here… right? I can’t fail you. I won’t let anything happen to you. Just be with me. We will reach hospital in few minutes. Please… Please be with me. I beg you. Please Pallavi Please.
A slight smile appeared on Pallavi’s face. She looked at his face and the glitter in her eyes kept on getting brighter and brighter. She was in a free flow between the world of living and dead but the fact that her love was right there with her, with her head placed on his lap and the fact that she still owned right to wear her vermilion had put her in peace. She was dying a married woman. Correction, she was dying a married woman of the person who has her as the reason for his existence. She knew he never said it but his acts, his behavior even his whole existence has broadcasted it for everyone to see. She knew he loved her and to go as his better half was the most beautiful way she could have dreamed her end to be.
He is fine. He is not hurt. He is fine. Thankyou bappa. You saved him. You saved his life. You saved my life. You saved my Raghav. Thank you. This life had to be with him. This soul belongs to him. Pallavi belongs to Raghav and if it had to be Pallavi or Raghav then it has to be Raghav. It will always be Raghav. I can lose my life, my soul, my being but losing him and living, that wouldn’t have been possible. So thank you bappa. You saved him. You saved my life. You saved my soul. You saved Raghav. Thankyou.
His heart was gasping as his beats was lying in blood. His world was falling on him and the darkness seemed circling on its prey. He gasped. He gasped for his breath and his breath answered. A blood drenched hand reached his chest and his beats steadied to her rhythm. Her consciousness was playing with her mind but her heart can’t allow him in pain. Her life was held on thin rope with each strand breaking one at a time but still the only thought she could perceive was that she can’t see him in darkness. She has to shine. She needed to shine even if it’s the last burst to burn herself because even those few seconds of light will keep him away from his darkness and for her those finite moments of her existence seemed a perfectly fair trade. He was fine. Her love was fine. She was at peace. The end seemed like her fairytale. Her breath had to break to keep her ‘breath’ alive. The poetic dichotomy wasn’t lost on her. She closed her eyes as her hands remained on his chest because that’s what he needed and so that was the only thing that mattered for her at that second, at every second.
“Doctor… Doctor…Need a doctor here immediately. Get me a doctor.”
“Save her. I don’t know what you are going to do but you are going to save her.”
“Ardhamainda….”
The OT lights were beaming and chaos ensued as a result of a storm walking in a few minutes back. The fire just witnessed by Doctor and staff had sent them to panic as the second bed was readied within minutes. The wrath had ordered and the peasants were just complying with his demands.
D – Putting anesthesia. The bullet wound is too close to her heart. We need blood. Check the bank.
Chaos ensued in OT as the realm of consciousness closed on her.
P – Are you fine? You are fine right? Thank god. You can’t let anything happen to you. I can’t take it. I won’t take it.
R – Then why you left me Pallavi. You knew I will be consumed by my darkness but you left me. Why you did that?
P – No… No Raghav. I can’t. I won’t. Why would I do that? I can never do that to you. I can’t let you break. I can never let you break. I will break but will never allow it to happen to you. I can never….
She woke up in OT screaming. Her body was frail but her heart had to see him. She needed to know if he is fine. She needed to… that he is fine.
He can’t be hurt. He can’t be alone. I have to see him. I need to see him.
D – Mam stay down. Keep calm. We have saved you by a thread and even then we weren’t able to get the bullet as it was too close to your heart. You literally have a ticking bomb in your heart and we don’t know which second will be your last. We need time to plan something. We already lost a patient just now. We can’t lose another. Please stay down. Nurse… Give her anesthesia.
Doctor’s plea fell on deaf ears as she thundered.
P – Dare to touch me and you will know what Pallavi Raghav Rao can do? He needs me. He will be in pain. He is alone there in his darkness. I need to be there. I need to be with him. And if any of you try to stop me, then swear to god what happen next won’t be my fault. Ardhamainda.
The attendants stood there in silence as she gets down off the bed. Her walk had strength and her steps were firm. The face of attendants were telling the story of awe. The blood loss alone would have made her bedridden for weeks but her firmness was making their work of past few hours seem like a joke. They were caring for her body, she was thinking of her soul. She got out of the OT looking for him in sea of faces and saw him sitting on floor, joining his hands. His vulnerability fueled her anger.
Raghav Rao can burn the whole world if he wishes too but he can’t be on knees. Not for anything. Not for anyone, not even for me.
She can’t take it. She can’t watch him on his knees. He is Raghav Rao. And she can’t allow him on his knees. She walked to him to hold him back up to his rightful place but paused as she reached.
“I don’t believe much in asking for anything.”
“I believe in deals.”
“She asked me to live for our love, for her love.”
“Let our love live but in her.”
“Save her and take me.”
“I will never trouble her again.”
“I will go so far that even if I want, I won’t be able to harm her.”
“I won’t harm her. I won’t harm her again.”
Conviction in the words spoken have a major effect in determining its impact. The words spoken seemed to be dipped in purest of emotion, fear. His fear. For her. And those vibrated in her like an echo. Her ‘soul’ was on floor, begging bappa. Begging… for her life. Trading… for her life. His life for hers. His… for hers. Her ‘life’ was offered for her life. Strange.
How can you be so wrong about your love? How can you be so wrong about our love? You want our love to live but have you seen a body without soul. You are my soul. You are our soul. You were the one to remind me who Pallavi is. You reminded me what I was, before being branded the widow and also what I was even with that. You never judged me based on the stamp this society put on me. You saw me. You saw Pallavi and you saw what even I had stopped seeing in myself. You never pity me, you challenged me. You forced me to remember my identity. You reinvigorated the light in my soul. But that wasn’t the only thing you did. You poured colors in white. You put smile in my eyes. You believe I am your beats. But my beats are because of you, my beats are for you. The light you see was buried under the dust of society. You removed the layer. You found my soul. You found my light. So if it has to end to keep you alive, it should cease to exist. I should cease to exist. It has to be its destiny. It has to be its end. It has to be my end.
The voices and the silence. Multiple noises, multiple emotions, a continuous beats of pulse. Beep…beep… beep…. And a silence of flat line. A silence of flat line.
And the ‘darkness’ finally engulfed the ‘light’.
R – No. This is just a bad dream. This is just a bad dream. Wake up Raghav…. Waaakeee upppp…..
He got up into his senses and cried for his life, Pallavi….. Palllaaaavviiii…..
Patient 19 - Raghav…
He saw his beat and he pulled her in his embrace.
R – You are not leaving me anytime from now onwards. I just can’t be without you. You are not leaving me again. Please… please don’t leave me Pallavi. Please don’t leave me.
“Let our love live but in her.”
“We weren’t able to get the bullet.”
“Save her and take me.”
“You have a ticking bomb in your heart.”
“I will go so far that even if I want, I won’t be able to harm her.”
“We don’t know which second will be your last.”
The arms didn’t hold him back. He pulled back his arms with a shocked face. His eyes kept contact to hers as he hears.
Attendant – Sorry sir, we weren’t able to save the patient. The trauma wa...
He took steps back and turned towards the door.
Raghav…
Her existence just left the hospital.
Attendant – Who are you? What are you doing here?
Patient 19 – I don’t know. I don’t… know.
