He used to throw his weight around in kasuati but couldn't in kyunki. Was insecure as it was smriti's show. leap after leap it was her show

They even had tiffs but he couldn't do much there, she could have thrown him out yet the show would have survived as he was the 3rd replacement but the vice versa was not a feasible option which they realized soon
