Illiteracy has nothing to do with English. It's just the mindset of people. For such people English represents better status and better education.

I was never good to begin with. 😆I used to barely get passing grades in school. English I can read n write cause I use it everyday. Urdu I can understand n speak but not write or read, again I suck at it. My mom was a French teacher in school so I knew French from her but still sucked at it. I learned Spanish n can speak n write but not great. I spent 7+ yrs just to be decent at it. Now I have to learn Portuguese because of my job😭 I hate learning new things when I’m forced to. I like staying inside my comfort zone, all secure n safe😆
