I don't think people ever mention this but I shipped Bhuvan with Elizabeth instead of Gauri in Lagaan.😆

See, Elizabeth was more beautiful, she went against her own people to support Bhuvan and the villagers. Taught them how to play cricket. She had a big hand in their victory.

Gauri did nothing except singing songs and dancing around trees with him.

It was not even just a crush as Elizabeth remained single for the rest of her life because she could never forget Bhuvan.

Bhuvan should've left his village and gone to London with Elizabeth.😆

Bold - You think the movie would’ve been this popular or commercially successful if that was the ending?

I didn’t see much chemistry between Elizabeth and Bhuvan... It wasn’t believable at all

BTW the ending is very similar to Shyam Benegal’s movie Junoon

A voiceover, Amrish Puri’s voice, says that Shashi Kapoor’s character Javed was martyred fighting the British while the white girl Ruth and her mother return to England. Ruth dies fifty five years later, unwed That’s the final line of the movie just like Lagaan

Maybe one of the reasons it’s so liked is not just bcz the theme of ordinary Indian guys beating the British but also a white woman falling so hard for him

I felt sorry for Jimmy Shergill’s character in Dil Hai Tumhaara . He was the childhood friend that ended up in friend zone . I was rooting for him and Priety’s character to end up together 😒

Okay then Elizabeth should've settled in Champaran after marrying Bhuvan.😆

Indian audience would've loved that and Lagaan might've been a bigger Hit than Gadar with that ending.

Since nailing an English girl would always be a bigger achievement than nailing a Pakistani girl. 😆

Bold - Even the female Indian audience? Not sure 😆

rooted for Rajendra Kumar's character in Sangam because Sundar was a clown and till date pisses me off that they try to appease the clown.

rooted so hard for Urmila's character in Judaai because Sridevi's character only belonged with misery. But unfortunately it didn't happen.

rooted for Salman's character in Saajan because I was a huge fan of Salman+Madhuri. In those years no one else mattered to me.

rooted so, so, soo hard for Sanjay Kapoor in Mohabbat that I still can't watch that movie. His death hurt! 💔 I loved Madhuri and Sanjay from Raja. Disliked Akshay for a long time for coming between them.

rooted for Tina in mujhse dosti karoge because I was am a huge fan of Kareena+Hrithik

rooted for Rani's character in har dil joh pyar karega because I was a huge fan of Rani+Salman

rooted for Mahima's character to be with Arjun in Dil Hai tumhara because she was gorg and I could barely tolerate Preity.

rooted for Aftab in Pyar Ishq aur mohabbat instead of Arjun because I was a huge Aftab fan.

rooted for Bobby Deol in Dillagi because you guessed it, I was a huge Bobby Deol fan. Who wasn't? 😆

very strongly rooted for Raveena's character in Pardesi Babu to end up with Govinda. Not sure why. I think I just felt the world had been so unfair to her character.

rooted for Rani's character in K3G because I was a huge Rahul Tina fan from KKHH

rooted for Akshay in Haan maine bhi pyar kiya because I was a huge Akshay fan and Abhishek was icky

rooted for Akshay in Bewafaa because I was a Akshay fan and come on! Who was rooting for Anil?

rooted for Vicky's character in manmarziyan because Abhishek's face pisses me off.

rooted for John Abraham's character in Dostana because one I was a fan, and Bobby's face started pissing me off. Why was he even in that movie? Eww

rooted for Ranbir of course in Saawariya because who in their right mind wanted to see Salman with Sonam? Sonam was so pretty and Ranbir was so pretty.

rooted for Shruti in Barfi because Ileana was mesmerizing to look at so I was her fan and definitely not a PC/Ranbir fan.

Rooted for Katrina/Ranbir in Rajneeti because I loved them. Katrina/Arjun was still hot but Ranbir and that white girl was a no no.

rooted for Saif's charcter in RHTDM because Maddy's character was pure trash.

rooted for Datto in TWM2 but Maddy had to ruin it at the last minute

rooted for Vaani's character in Shuddh desi romance because she was the only likable person in the movie

I can't even remember triangles that went my way. Thank God Sunny's character dies in Pyaar Koi khel nahi. Until Cocktail that was my only triangle win. I am the captain of all sunken ships.

I knew this list wasn't long enough to express all my disappointments. I woke up at 2am remembering more of them.

Freaking Bachna ae Haseeno. Yes Ranbir was trash but I really wanted him with Minnisha.

Andaaz I really really disliked Lara's character for reasons I shouldn't mention. Hated that Akshay ended up with her over Priyanka.

In Race, I was so disappointed Saif and Katrina didn't end up together.

In the whole Saheb, biwi + whatever saga the only thing I ever liked was Soha and Jimmy together and they had to go and kill Soha I'm the stupidest way 👎🏼

In yeh raaste hai pyar I absolutely didn't want Madhuri to end up alone while Preity got her Ajay. I just didn't like Preity in any triangle.

But the one freaking time I wanted Preity to win a love triangle, Dil se, SRK chose to die with Manisha.

There was this one movie called Deewane where Ajay had double roles, a good cop Ajay and crook Ajay. Crook Ajay ends up with Urmila instead of good Ajay who she starts the movie with. I was furious! 😡

Kisna used to be one of my most favorite movies. Catherine and Kisna were the epitome of true love for me back in those days. I can't believe he chooses duty over love and marries Lakshmi.

I hated Dil Se ending too . He gave up his life for a separatist / terrorist who didn’t give two hoots about him for most of the time when he could have had a happy life with Priety instead 😒

I was happy she ended up with the crook here ... 😆 She loved the cop and vice versa but they were so incompatible as romantic partners, I just didn't see how they would've lived harmoniously had they ended up together. The crook was tailor made for her and no wonder she fell in love. I also held a grudge against the cop for taking NO issue with the crook "taking his place" and romancing his girlfriend while he was in a coma. What kind of a boyfriend is that? 😆 The crook started off as a decoy but fell for her and so did she cuz that was what she always craved from the cop but had to suck it up the whole time. The cop also had no qualms switching it up every now even after recovering... just so he could slip out whenever duty called him, without her ever knowing cuz he could just plant the lookalike in front of her per his convenience. She was just not his top priority and he basically treated her like a doll without needs and concerns of her own. To me, it made sense that she ended up with the crook.

OMG, I'd totally forgotten about Kisna! That movie broke my heart into a million pieces ... I was rooting for them so hard, I was listening to Hum Mile Na Mile for days afterwards lamenting how it ends.

Sorry for interjecting my thoughts ... I just couldn't resist these two, esp. the first one cuz I really rooted for her and the crook. LOL ...
