No matter how we want it, but it's a hardcore fact that most of the comman Indian Man go through this dilemma of choosing between mother and wife.
I can say this so much surity because I myself have a intercaste love marriage and though my now husband fought with his family for me, he told me at the very beginning that if there would ever be an issue between myself and his mom, he would side with his mom. There are many other guys like him.
So veer being in an emotional dilemma is not dramatic. It's very common and obvious in Indian society.
