Padmavat was a publicity stunt orchestrated by SLB by spreading rumors, how would anyone know what kind of scenes are there in the movie?

Anyway there was law and order situation in many states, women were threatening to commit suicide if the movie was allowed to release

Padmavat was a box office success, It was tax free in many states and I believe I'd prefer not releasing the movie than actually being responsible for suicide of any of these women, not to mention Mob was vandalizing property, if I recall correctly, curfew was imposed in many states on the day of release

Karni Sena supported Congress in state elections and Loksabha election, why make it about left wing and right wing, when no political party spoke against them and take their help in election campaigns?

Few people cry when any movie releases but no movie is banned in India, We are not Pakistan FFS 🤪 The outrage against movies didn't start in 2014, it has always been a thing, the only time we came close to a hostile situation was during Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi and musicians/movie stars/journalists were arrested

The lack of support from BJP during this controversy, is why fringe groups like Karni Sena led to Karni Sena not supporting them, rather supported Congress during the Rajasthan elections in 2018. No not defending BJP, just stating facts.

See while there is no doubt, BJP is a majority appeasing party and tries to vilify anyone who bashes them but this whole thread is a stupid one, containing nothing but fear mongering.

Completely Agree with the above. This is not to deny the fact that some shameful incident does happen in India like mob lynching and targeting a person cause of their faith etc. but in a country of more than billion people these incidents are sadly bound to happen with so many people following varied religion resides here. Still majority of people will come out in open to support the right without thinking about faith of the person. Don't just go by twitter trends which is being used by approximately 20 million Indian users i.e. around 1%-2% of India's population.

This is just an assumption that majority of the people on this thread who has commented don't reside in India and most are just going by the fringe incident reports in the media and some relatives off remarks here and there. I apologise in advance if my assumption is wrong. I know you guys love India equally as we do and all these opinions are cause of that concern but believe me the situation is not as bad as it is made out to be. Movies are going to release with minor skirmishes here and there which has even happened in the past. No movie is banned by the Govt of India as far as I remember and never it will be, not even those movies which mocked the religious practices of the religion majority follows in India. India is a democracy not cause of the Govt but cause of the people who reside here. We still have our conscience intact no matter what Govt or opposition tries to say. Leaders of BJP or Congress don't represent Indian public on a whole.

The only thing that should get banned is bigoted views, fake news (whether for or against) which causes rift between human to human interactions and lots of misconception.

India cannot become Pakistan. It is a federal democracy where even if 4 states ban a movie 26 other states will release it tax free and the audience in India will make it a super hit, only if the movie deserves to be a hit
