Patal Lok released on streaming and didn't have any big stars in it. They deliberately attack movies with big stars so they can piggyback off it. Saif isn't even a big deal but they caused huge problems for Tandav. But streaming anyway is much harder to attack but they do cause issues. They harassed Amazon enough that they had to delay releasing Family Man 2 for months after the original release date.

The movies are old which is why the right wing doesn't mention them now because there's nothing to gain from it. But going forward, if newer movies had those themes, they would go crazy. The BJP even jumped into the Kaabil-Raees clash and said lots of disgusting things about SRK/Raees and tried to create enmity. It's not just about one movie. Nobody succeeds that quickly. It's about systematically going after certain themes, topics, and people until they get scared. It happens slowly over time.

Paatal Lok, Family Man 2, Kaabil, Raees, Padmavat etc ,all released, despite all protestations and trolling. If and when a film actually gets banned/censored, then you'll have a point, but right now, manufacturing moral panic over imagined scenarios and outraging over it, is just silly.

Neither Kaabil nor Padmavat belong in that list. Both were hugely supported by the right wing. They loved Padmavat showing the Muslim invader looking like a beast. And they loved Kaabil because they were dreaming about it beating Raees. I mean imagine people like the BJP spokesperson and a Chief Minister (apparently future PM candidate) openly campaigning for one film while harassing another one.

It isn't silly either. Vigilance is important against these bigoted hateful freaks. They slowly build an atmosphere and the water gets hotter and hotter in a way that most people don't even realize it and it all becomes normalized. None of this behavior is normal. It is not normal for Chief Ministers to harass actors and films and use threats to get their way but a huge group now thinks it's okay. Once it gets worse, they will start outright banning too.

A section of people wanted to shut Padmavat down, it still got released. Protests against movies have been happening since the beginning, not something that just began since 2014, there's a long list of national/regional movies that have been banned by censor boards and previous governments. These protests and controversies only seem to benefit bollywood, giving them publicity, it seems almost deliberate.

Radhe should have been cancelled to preserve life and avoid further pollution. This should also be included in today’s political climate concerns ✊🏼

Hain? I think you are disregarding the fact that Padmavat didn’t even get a release in 3 of the major Hindi speaking states- all BJP governed!

Padmavat was supported by right wing, yeah right😆. Example toh accha do.

Anyways, doesn't matter if it is BJP government or Congress government in power, SRK's movies would have flopped in any situation😆.

Haven’t heard of any movies being CANCELLED in India yet. Yes there have been movies having issues with Censor Boards and banned but this has been happening since 1959 lol.

Public outcry or opinions on a movie is always welcomed in democratic country.

Contrary to propagandas, India is still a very FREE country with its own LEFT wing - RIGHT wing media, movies, politics and education.

Try having right wing movies, media, politics in an actual communist country and people disappear without trace with no discussions allowed.

So let’s thank our stars for little mercies of democracy.
