Gujarati viewpoint:

Dandiya & Garba is Not the same.

Dandiya is the stick that is used to play Raas. - that’s what the dance with stick is called in Gujarati.

It is like calling kuchipudi manjira or calling Bhangra Khunda.

For Q: If they do Garba in pagfera or any rasam- answer is: pagfera is usually simple rasam. Though in certain areas like Kathiawad: south western Gujarat where Somnath belongs, some communities do this rasam elaborately. When ritual is attached with mannat, some times Mataji’s Garba do happen. Sometimes elders have mannat, than small family gathereing impromptu Garba do happen.

Infact Garba can happen anytime- no rules & regulations for that. It’s about getting together, enjoy & celebrate & worship+ thank kuldevi.

Anyways Pandyas have nothing else to do at haveli!

Pagfere in PS is also a token rasam for the sake of it. Where Mami is not even at her home. Toh karne do enjoy.
