We actually got an episode pretty much completely centered around Adi-Imlie without any altu-faltu log zabardasti forced in😆.....I'm still in a daze processing this😆.
I thought meherbaani hogi if we manage to get the thank you/ILU dhang se....but they literally gave the whole moment such a lovely build up :)
Imaliya ka English wala "punishment" continued on from yesterday with Adi literally stalking her around the house to check if she's speaking English😆. First up was Imlie's phone call with her mom where she was telling her about SK's court date coming up soon.....lol Adi Maharaj prakat hokar chair pe baith gaye to stare at her intimidatingly toh bechaari "yes yes" karke bhaag gayi after ending the phone call with Mithi😆......LOL@ Adi muttering to himself ki agar Nautanki ka exam hota toh iske 100% marks aate😆
Then came Imlie's banter with Sundar in the kitchen about cooking bhindi😆.....Adi popped in there again toh Imlie got flustered into speaking her tooti phooti English again.....LOL@ Sundar correcting her that bhindi is Ladyfinger toh Imlie started staring at her index finger🤣.....and then she called Sundar BEAUTIFUL🤣......Adi's face in response to this🤣.....ROFL@ her justifying ki sundar ka matlab beautiful hi hota hai.....hahaha and then Sundar being like waise toh humesha bandar bolti hai toh monkey bol dena chahiye tha😆......Adi was like whatever😆.
Then poor Imlie again moping around in front of the T family that she hates all this pressure to speak in English and everyone makes fun of her when she tries to talk in English.....aww our poor baccha.....Adi yahaan bhi ho gaya prakat and LOL@ each T family member slowly leaving one by one Adi ke darr se😆.....leaving Adi-Imlie by themselves...shocking😆.
SUCH a lovely convo after this❤️. Adi starts off with chiding her again for not even trying to make an effort to study for this exam and Imlie opens up about her fears again. She talks about how those who swim in a pond all their lives are scared to swim in the ocean.....she feels unsure of herself cuz she's only just started speaking English and she feels Adi is throwing her in the deep end by expecting her to learn it all in one day. But aww then Adi reminds her that she is Imlie from Pagdandiya who has never been afraid of hard work.....so Imlie confides further that she isn't afraid of hard work but she doesn't want to be made fun of....doesn't want to feel like a Joker.....she doesn't want to be made to feel like a gawaar. Aww bechaari bacchi ka confidence hil gaya hai on this one point.....it is after all another thing to project confidence about your mental capabilities but learning a language puts you out there for more scrutiny....that is why she is feeling more off balance. But how beautifully does Adi reminder her again ki, "Kya tum humari Imlie ko nahin jaanti? Woh gaaon se hai par gawaar nahin hai".....and then he talks about how language doesn't make a person big or small....but the language itself is also not big or small.....English is not their native language but it is one of the most common languages used in the world so it is important to learn it to progress in this world.....and not be scared of it.
The beauty of this scene was that once Adi sensed the root cause of her fear, he dropped his stern stance totally and explained everything to her with so much patience and love😆.....put her at ease by using her own language to explain to her that it is important to learn to walk before you run.....and Imlie relaxed slowly and started smiling back, correcting him when he was getting the Bhojpuri wrong😆.....so many lovely things Adi said in this scene...."Agar tum gir gayi toh hum tumko sambhaal lenge".....and then repeating his most fervent wish for her....that he doesn't just want to see her run, he wants to see her fly.....aww at the way Imlie smiled back at him and said, "Jaanat hain"......toh finally he's like you correct me and I'll correct you.....aise hi ho jaayega.....haha.....and finally Imlie calmed down and samajh gayi.
No one has the knack to motivate Imlie quite like her Babusahib.....lol aaj phir se prove ho gaya😆....pehle daant se aur phir pyar se....samjhaa hi leta hai apni Jhalli ko kisi na kisi tarhaan😆
Iske baad Imlie pe jo fitoor chadhaa padhaai ki khaana vaana sab chhod ke baith gayi padhne non-stop😆......Family waale also kept dropping in to check on her....aww....and then finally Babusahib himself showed up with a plate of food ki khaana toh khaa lo😆.....the way she paused to look at him when he asked her if she wants him to feed her the food😆......the love was just pouring out of Imlie's eyes for her Babusahib today😆.
No wonder then that she stopped him so that she could narrate her little thank you speech to him.....it played out exactly as per the precap.....but truly beautifully emoted by Sumbul👏.....such a tender moment between Adi-Imlie so well built up.....I'm so thankful it wasn't shown like a random lollipop and they gave it meaning by showing the emotion pouring out of Imlie as a follow up to his earlier motivation talks with her.......so then it was no wonder that the "I love you" just spontaneously spilled out of her at the end of her speech.....and the happy version of Piya Tose Milne playing on this was like the cherry on the icing ❤️.....Adi froze for a long moment on hearing this, turned back towards her and then asked her ki what did she say? Phir se bolo😆......toh Imlie ducked her head with a blushing smile but looked up into his eyes again and repeated her "I love you"......no hesitation, no deflection....direct bol diya ladki ne aaj😆.
But obviously Babusahib ki phooti kismat, he only had a second to savor it before Ts showed up with their "Kya?"😆.....Rupi di tried to help with the cover up by saying Imlie is just saying what she learnt in her English book.....haha and as expected, Imlie repeated her assembly line waale ILUs for the whole family just like she had done in the V-day epi😆......Sundar ko bhi almost bol diya but end mein THENGA dikhaa ke bhaag gayi🤣.....LMAO@ Sundar acting all shy that she was about to give him an ILU too🤣
Amazing, heartwarming episode....I'm still amazed that we got something like this to savor without any negative elements stuffed in.....whole thing had this wonderful vibe of just soaking in the emotion......I savored that today.
Baaki toh the Ts really didn't look very convinced by Imlie ka excuse for the ILU.....lol so maybe the suspicions will return again.....cuz precap mein mahaan Didi phir padhaari hain ghar and lag gaya hai grahan phir se with poor Imlie getting slapped by Radha ji for trying to patch up Nishvi I guess.....so kal se we will be back to the usual zone of mar mar ke ek aadh Adi-Imlie scene and Didi overload😆. Chalo glad we got yeh 2-3 epis of warmth for now😊.
Awesome review AY. Pehle toh I agree that we got an Adi & Imlie centered light episode, especially with the whole T family that had a base from the last 3 episodes - I am stunned that we got continuity, especially with the disconnected and aadha adhoora conversations we have had in the past.
Coming to today, what struck me were the smaller moments with the other family members. Loved the dialogue from Aparna when she saw Imlie standing quietly, saying "Tu itni chup khadi rehti hai toh hum sab ko ghabrahat hoti hai" which for me echoed Adi's "Jab bhi tum itni der chup rehti ho humein dar lagne lagta hai ki tum kuch khatarnak karne jaa rahi ho, Pagdandiya style". Reminded meof Imlie's dialogue the other day where she said - "dono maa beta same same".
Also the nice link to yesterday's episode where she used the new word she learnt from BS - "Urban" and used it to sunao the T family - "You make Urban khi khi, I no talk."
Also how the entire family understood that they needed to leave when they saw Adi glowering at everyone for indulging her. Bechare are petrified of Adi, but do not know that he can become a real softy, especially for Imlie, which was displayed just a few moments later when she explained that mehnat se darr nahi lagta BS, Joker banke sabes hasi udwane se lagta hai. That was so heartfelt, genuine and relatabe for anyone who has tried something they are not good at and has to show it to the world in that unprepared state. That almost paralyzing fear is what Imlie was feeling everytime that she was pushed to speak in English in front of everyone. Reminded me of the time a friend of mine had explained the reason she used to not talk in English - because she landed up looking like a slow, dumb person when she took the time to translate her thoughts into something that made sense, in a language that was very foreign to her. ST's acting today really was mindblowing, where we could really connect with that feeling that she was portraying.
Humare BS really displayed his range today to shut all those who said that he has become emotionless and frowns all the time. Today he really displayed varied roles he plays in Imlie's life - Mentor, caretaker, emotional support and finally was rewarded with something he never in his wildest dreams expected, those 3 beautiful word from Imlie in a language that she is not familiar with, but made that much more of an impact. That love declaration had very little romance, but was composed of other deeper feelings - gratitude, compassion, affection, respect, pride and most importantly genuine love for the other person. It was spontaneous and that much more heartfelt and effective than any grand declaration could have done. For me what made it more special was it was done in the same place that he had shared his vishwas and his belief in their love, so it came a beautiful full circle. (Do not know if it was intentional or because they did not have any other place, but still thank you to the makers for this as well). Sad that the T family interrupted them, and that make up for the ILU seemed contrived, but I also liked that Aparna, Pankaj & BK somehow did not seem to buy that she said ILU without knowing the full matlab behind those words.
If tomorrow the makers give me a follow-up scene with Adi & Imlie to today's declaration and Aparna, Pankaj & BK's thoughts about what Imlie said, I will be willing to really forgive them for some of the crappy stuff they have given us these past few weeks.
