I myself have faced situation somewhat similar to this. There was a serial on Sony TV named Surya Putra Karna & they showed absolutely rubbish stuffs there to glorify Karna! I commented few times on that show's episodes on YouTube because I happened to have read Mahabharata (most of the BORI edition and bits & pieces from Kishori Mohan Ganguly's translation) & just couldn't tolerate the absolute wrong storyline this show came up with.

I am not revealing my original name here, but let's just say this much that I have a hindu name but mohamedan surname because my father is Muslim while my mother is Hindu.

In reply to my comments very few people tried to counter me with the contextual facts. Most of them left hate comments on the basis of my surname & very rudely taunted me for being a muslim & yet commenting on something sacred like Mahabharata. Apparently my surname has already decided that I am not qualified to argue over Mahabharata & by countering the episodes' content I am trying to malign Mahabharata & Hindu religion at large.

I was shocked to say the least.

That's the state our country is in. That's how much brainwashed our people have become. No need to even see the real issue, just make a hue & cry over religion. No need to respect any Muslim, no need to listen to their point....if he/she is Muslim then he/she must be trying to malign Hindus & their beliefs.

On topic - If Kareena was still a Kapoor & not a Khan, no one would have bat an eye if she demanded even 50 crores for this role!

I’m so sorry for the harassment you had to face due to your surname. Minorities are going through the worse now, all thanks to godi media. Every time you open your tv to watch news.. all you see hindu vs muslim, hindu khatre main hai, love jihad group, tukre tukre gang, khalistani etc.. spreading racism, jingoism among people...if you anything against it with logic.. they will declare you anti national.. if you don’t believe in govt .. you’re anti national, if you criticise them.. you’re anti-national.!!

Your point is absolutely valid.. I just watched one episode of that series.. and it infuriated me!! Makers will do anything for TRP...

I love my country and it’s people. I hope we will open our eyes and actually get acche din.

Oh no! I can totally feel you! I have come across that too. There's no moderation or anything & because of that people say just whatever they wish to win the verbal battle. I comment very less nowadays.

And as a whole....yes, from the current state of affairs it seems we are going back in time. People have totally gone blind in hatred. The terms "secular", "liberal" etc are used like gaalis now. I have even come across arguments that insults our constitution, terms it as political interest driven garbage & how the majority of it needs to be amended or a new constitution has to be written by the current, "true" patriotic lot to save our country

This is truth and nothing but the absolute truth. My own parents keep telling me stuff like this, albeit hesitantly because they know how I would react. People are getting brainwashed, even more so because of this Pandemic where people are locked in the homes with their idiot boxes running full time on full volume. Almost all the channels preach the same stuff and are very popular amongst the majority. I blame Congress for ignoring the Majority for decades and bringing them to this stage, but that’s probably for another topic I guess. I feel so sorry for the minorities as I cannot even imagine their state of mind with all this going around them with Media and the Government up in arms against them. People are being played, whether they belong to majority or minority- all of them are paying the price one way or the other. :(

After that incident I have reduced my commenting frequency a lot. I even try not to read the comments much in case I feel too tempted to reply.

@Bold - That's what I try to achieve mostly. Like in this site, or in reddit or in Disqus I will never reveal my original name. But unfortunately YouTube uses your Google account & thus your actual name with which you have created your Google account pops up. I contemplated making a separate id for YT, but I have to stay logged in in my original id for mails & payments & other stuffs....so dropped the idea.🤔

Bhakts are always on their own psychotic trips. A few months ago, they were busy boycotting SRK's next movie Tipu Sultan which doesn't even exist and never did. Lots of trends were done and fake trailers were disliked. One fake trailer had hundreds of thousands of dislikes. Go figure. 🤪

As elitist as it sounds, the worst thing that ever happened to social media in India is Jio's cheap prices dumping millions of illiterate and foolish Indians onto the internet.
