Hello everyone,

So, I am back here with the third instalment of the What if series.

We all know that Raavi was given a chance for annulment of her marriage, to which she refused to go and decides to continue living with Shiva.

My question is, what if she had decided to walk out that day? What if she chose not to be in an unhappy relationship forever. Will she be vilified? Would Shiva had pined for her? Would the family members be ever able to get over the guilt of running Raavi’s life?

Given the small town, Somnath is, would Raavi had the same fate as Anita?

Chip in, folks!

I don't think shiva would have pined for her if she would have walked out that day, it was too early for that . They both would have been hurt for sure.shiva because of her accusations and raavi would have broken down thinking herself unworthy of love.first her love Left her at the altar and then her husband left her among goons. Maybe she would have stayed in her room all day. The people would have talked behind her back. Shiva reacting harshly after listening to some taunts.

Frankly it would have been interesting to see their love blossom without the tag of marriage and being forced by the family. but ITV shows often explores love after marriage.

It would have been an interesting watch. Raavi being strong and trying to move on in life. They could have shown that she discontinued clg after her marriage was fixed, she decides to start clg . Shiva feeling responsible for her Condition, even after the annulment of their marriage and secretly taking care of her. Makes sure she is safe.they are such passionate actors and have such depth in their characters...I so wish for an intense and passionate shivi live story....sighh😞

I know its too much to ask for from a daily soap ..but still.😅

I dont think Shiva would have pined for her as they hardly got time to know each other. But if Raavi left, the society would speak behind her back and sometimes on her face too. This would have humbled (probably) maami...and seeing Raavi's life would make Shiva see the things his family did in a new light....sometimes open his eyes and stop or atleast tone down the blind bhai bhabhi jaap...even see Raavi in a new light(as she is and not for who her guardian is)...Then obviously they would fall for each other....slowly...and it will definitely change Raavi alot...hopefully make her stronger and bolder..

PS: I had read a fanfiction on a similar thread on Original PS...except there Raavi leaves the mandap straight and donot wait for Dhara to decide for her...and slowly finding her footing..

I don't think any of them would have pined for each other, but perhaps both would have thought about it alot. I think society would have been kinder to Shiva for sure, Raavi would have come across as the one to have left. She would have had to live with a tag. Which is sad as it's her life and should be able live how she wants.

I think the family should and would feel guilty. Because had she left it would have shown how two people took a wrong decision in their life due to their emotional manipulation. And it broke down the next day itself.

I've always saw ShiVi as meant to be together, the universe would always find a way of bringing them together. So for me I reckon they might have found a way together on their own.

I think Anita could have married if she wanted to. Even now, she can realistically get married to Hardik if she and her family really pursue that relationship. However, Anita is busy in going after Gautam and she seems to be never interested in Hardik. I think going after Gautam and not deciding for herself are the reasons she's unmarried, and not due to society or anything of that sort.

And even if she remains unmarried for the rest of her life, I think that's not a problem at all. She can do so much with her life that's not related to being married. Any woman is perfectly fine by herself. She needs to get married only if she wants to. Otherwise there's no need or compulsion I'd say.

Similarly, Raavi should not be vilified if she had decided to end the relationship that day. And I don't think her fate would have turned out bad or her life would have been ruined if she chose to end a marriage. There's so much more to life other than a relationship. In reality, maybe she would have realised that. On TV, of course, they're going to be together.

And as for the society point, kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka toh kaam hi hai kehna. Even if a couple is together with children, society talks and gossips. There's no end to it.

A divorced woman facing stigma to the extent that her life is ruined and she can only live peacefully with a man is a shameful situation. I come from a metro city and thankfully it's not like that here. The Somanth they show on TV doesn't look like a small town. The city, people, clothing, etc., are all quite modern. I think divorce has now come into the mainstream picture generally in society. Nobody deserves to be ostracised just because they're divorced.

Lovely post Piu!

1. I don't think any of them would have pinned for each other. I mean they were forced into a marriage and it was Day#1. However, because of everything that happened with Raavi, and considering the society that they live in which would have blamed Raavi more than Shiva, I think he would have taken her under his wing of silent care. E.g. he would have given back to someone unbeknownst to Raavi if they spoke I'll about her "fate". But more to do with the guilt if what Dev did and then a broken marriage with him moreso than the bond they would have shared as husband and wife.

As far as the family's guilt is concerned, then no. I mean they aren't guilty or show any kind of remorse to what happened to Raavi and she lives in the same house as the guy who left her at the alter and hasn't even apologized. So I don't think they'd feel guilty. GauRa may say sorry and move on.

As far as Raavi's fate is concerned, probably not. Anita has lived her life as a bichari and if she was truly seeking companionship and tried for it instead of just her fyi hitching her with anyone, ai think she would have been successful. Raavi, I feel like would have grown up from these happenings and would have moved on to pursuing professional dreams along with battling depression silently. I see her as someone becoming independent leading life as per her terms and not really wanting to deal with any man in her life to prevent a heartbreak.

Considering how Dhara still gets taunted for her mother's actions, unfortunately, Raavi would have been vilified by the society. First by fake sympathy taunts and then almost jealousy taunts as she learns to survive in her own independently. Because in the narrow minded society that they live in, independent woman achieving success in her own is looked down upon. But Raavi would probably not care as the past incidents have taught her to be stronger.

It sure if my Post makes any sense.

I have a similar opinion to some of the previous posts.

If they had gone their separate ways, I don’t think Shiva or Raavi would have pined. Shiva might feel sorry for her, but his prejudice of her being Maami’s daughter would have still being intact- it would have in fact gotten reinforced. “Raavi being Maami’s daughter does not know how to handle relationships” was what he would have thought.

Raavi, having left him in anger, would have just fed the anger and continued thinking the worst of him. She might have been broken for a bit and moved on, but would not reminisce about Shiva in a positive light.

I highly doubt they would have found a way back to each other. Thinking about it practically, Suman would have been pissed enough to push Shiva to marry someone else. I also feel Maami would have been desperate enough to retaliate by getting Raavi married to someone else- maybe even an NRI. The families can always pull an emotional blackmail card with heart attacks and what not.

For better or worse, ShiVi journey only starts when they are forced to live together, and their perception changes over time seeing many ups and downs together. I am stubbornly unconvinced that ShiVi had some latent feelings before marriage. They might have had a spark(I think that has more to do with AliKan) but no deep feelings.

The only other way they could go back together was if they were forced to work together in a professional setting. It makes no sense to me as Shiva exclusively works at Pandya Stores, and I would imagine Raavi would have avoided Pandya stores+family like the plague. But for whatever reason, if it had been possible, then yes the journey could still be beautiful 🙂

Lovely post as always and the replies are on point.

Kudos to Raavi if she had chosen not to live in an unhappy marriage and had decided to take the high road and move on, which she eventually would have. Raavi's character is very tenacious; she will move mountains to get what she wants and I can see her going at either a career or if she is willing to, a better marriage with the same determination that she did when she wanted to get married to Dev.

Would people gossip about her, most definitely since she spoke about marrying Dev throughout Somnath and then got married to her to be Devar and to get divorced after, that for gossiping aunties is fodder for days. But, I remember a dialogue from a movie "Kuch to log kahege, logo ka kaam hai kehna" (Aaje Nachle i think) which had stuck with me and is apt for this situation because I can see her rising above it all after she's done pitying herself.

Anita brought her fate onto herself. She decided that she didn't want to get married to anyone else. Plus both the characters have been shown as being very different. Raavi is able to see the niceness in people despite their uppermost feelings (hello Shiva) so she would be more receptive to marrying someone else.

@funny_fubar mentioned in her post that shivi wouldn't have had feelings for each other if they hadn't been married (paraphrasing) and I agree. Why would they, they've disliked each other since they were kids and Raavi making an effort was because her was going to be her Devar. Maybe if they spent time together after they might depending on the situation, but would they need to if they are getting an annulment?

From all the family members I can see Krish and maybe Suman feeling horrible about ruining her life. Maybe even Gautam to an extent since he was the one that put her in that position in the first place. But they would apologise and move on. Surprisingly, I have a feeling that Shiva would be the most guilty; we've been shown glimpses where he's told Dev after the wedding was arranged that he should have stayed away from her and that he feels bad for her, so the likelihood of him supporting her decision after would be more of a redemption for his behaviour towards her. A bonus would be if they did genuinely start liking each other and give their relationship a new chance. (Although imagine the insecurities before they trust each other fully.)

Thank you, everyone, for sharing such beautiful thoughts.

I agree with everyone that maybe Shivi wouldn't have pined for each other.

But, I do believe that there would be an enormous sense of guilt in Shiva. Guilt too overwhelming to get over with, given Shiva’s intense nature. I wouldn't be surprised if, in such a scenario, he silently watched her from a distance to make sure she is taken care of.
