Changing Shiva? Is it really that important?

koi pyaar kare toh tumse kare,
tum jaise ho waise kare,
koi tumhe badal kar pyaar kare,
toh woh pyaar nahi, sauda kar rha hai,
aur, pyaar mein sauda nahi hota.....

Dhara single-handedly crushed Shiva’s izzat in Rishita’s eyes when she had beaten him mercilessly.

It's just hideous to think like this. Raavi and her needs were attached to Dev, who is automatically respected because he is a gentleman.

Today, Raavi’s thought process was that of “Why can't Shiva dress up like a gentleman?”

Did Shiva ask Raavi to change?

To stop behaving or looking like what she does?

What's with everyone’s obsession with changing Shiva? For what? For rightfully calling a spade a spade or being comfortable in his skin, or marrying a girl left at the altar by his brother?

Why is it always his responsibility to clean up everyone’s mess and also clean up himself?

He smells like the shop because he works with his heart there. For people who Don't respect That, fcuk you!

Some firemen reek of fire extinguishers, mechanics reek of grease, civil engineers have paint on their clothes. So, a provisions store person can't be expected to smell like Gucci perfume. Raavi and Shiva don't need to change who they are to be loved and accepted by each other.

This faulty ITV logic is blah!!!

Well, by that logic, why is Rishita only being asked to change? Doesn't the same logic applies to Dev as well? Why not ask him to be vocal? Why not tell him to be more verbose and take a stand for everyone? Why not tell Dhara to stop her stubbornness? Why not ask Suman to give up physical abuse?

Somnath ki Sabse Beautiful Ladki pitched against Somnath ka sabse Junglee Bhalu!

Confidence, Comfortable and Unapologetic!

No, no matter how much Raavi feels bad or thinks that outward appearance is important, I think Shiva’s devil May care attitude has been put as a complete foil to Raavi’s “Looks Matter a lot’ personality.

We are introduced to Raavi-- a girl who is pretty concerned about her hair, beauty and above all, her glow on the skin. Shiva’s confidence, comfort and convenience in his skin shows how little outwardly appearance matters to him. A plot point that has a booming scope to sort between two individuals.

People can say what they want. Our society has enough obsession with the set standards of beauty, making every other person who doesn't fit the bill conscious, insecure and not enjoying his/her life.

Apart from all of Shiva’s Andhbhakti, this is the one trait that makes him highly adorable. Certain things are perfectly pitched in this show between Shivi:

1. A girl on a high pedestal of beauty is pitched against Shiva, who is beyond these shallow norms.

2. Raavi, who was left at the altar despite all the beauty in the world, now craves attention from someone who had no particular attachment to the societal Acceptance of beauty.

3. Raavi is introduced to the concept that beauty is only skin deep when she sees that the man who she considers uncouth cleans up well and can look like any other gentleman by merely a change of clothing. He goes back to what he was simply because he is neither ashamed of his demeanour nor considers it a significant aspect of his personality.

4. Finally, Raavi’s primal attraction to his form most of the time shows that men and women are biologically attracted first, clothes come later smiley36

To add, I think she will find Shiva charming despite not wearing white collared clothes.

I remember his dialogue that as if wearing clothes as a gentleman would bring business at the store.

Out of all the brothers, he was the most sensitive one and helped Gaumbi in the shop from childhood. It's okay not to change completely. If Raavi has to fall, she needs to love him for what he is and not what she makes him become.

This is an absolutely lovely post! I want Raavi to realize this.

It was so good that Shiva was confident about this when Dhara asked him to get ready for bonfire and he said Jose Pyar Karna Hoga woh aise hi karegi.

Beautiful post as always! I completely agree each person needs to maintain his or her individuality. That’s what makes us human beings unique and different. If all of us looked and behaved the same as each other, there wont be any uniqueness left in the world. The world would turn dull, drab and boring. Our differences are special and thats what makes all of us humans! ❤️

Absolutely beautiful post! All these characters look so completely and utterly shallow, for whom beauty is only judged by external appearances and qualifications, with no merits attached to what's inside. It's pathetic really.

If Shiva ends up changing anything at all except for cleaning up better, or occasionally dressing up for special occasions, and that too if he likes doing it, then its a bye-bye for this show from me.

I agree with your post completely. I do not like whatever they are doing with Shiva😕His sanki-ness and swag are part of him and his clothes too. All he needs to do is wash and wear them. His plaid shirts look perfectly fine and we have seen him in the past wearing shirts all buttoned up. And most of the time he dresses for special occasions like Sangeet, Haldi, wedding, which ultimately turned out to be his wedding as well and Bonfire too.

Is Rishita changing her obnoxious behavior? She doesn't leave a chance to insult everybody in Pandya niwas.

Dhara doesn't change her controlling behavior and physical abuse and constantly giving dulayi ki dhamki to ShiVi.

Suman, Dev and others all have bad traits and attributes, nobody wants to change them.

But Shiva being like this is an insult to everyoneand Raavi also feels that way😕

I do not want Shiva to change completely, you have to let this person be for who he is.

Thank you 🤗

Brilliant correlation!

I would want to believe that a part of him wants to be accepted and loved, just like Dhara takes care of Gaumbi. It was pretty much evident when he had a crestfallen face on not being served tea.

For Shiva, marital bliss in the form of Gaura love is the only one that he has seen. He didn't have any notions of a dream girl etc. Marriage never even struck him till the date he stepped into his brother's shoes. There may be intense emotions in him but yes, wanting to be loved for who he is-it is undoubtedly a hidden desire.

He should be loved for what he is-a man who lives carefree, loves passionately and cares deeply!

Shiva is comfortable in his skin. Because he is true to himself. 100%. No fakery, no mahantaa, no show-off, no-nonsense- unlike Dev or Rishita or Dhara.

Raavi knows that, she has seen him & known from eternity +She is clear in her heart & mind that He is who she is connected with- for life. Liked her clarity too, that he works hard in store.

Was good to see her diary back... hope while writing she will realize, How shiva dresses up for occasions, as needed. And daily life- he is : who he is. Doesn't fake around like Dev.

Hope Raavi won't get affected by Rishita's instigating remarks. Don't want her to. In fact, want her to talk it out with Shiva. It is also a matter of time, Shiva will change- at least a bit with time with Raavi, it happens with every couple. They both will adapt to each other.

Dhara needs help. She is going into psychotic stubborn denial.

She just doesn't want to acknowledge that the real piece of work is Rishita.

Her keeping absolutely quiet at Rishita's insensitive remarks was not being a messiah of sudhar instead she was indirectly encouraging Rishita & further degrading Shiva & in turn, Raavi. Insensitive!

Once again, Gaumbi & Raavi were on point with their frustration with Dhara's behavior. She is overstepping in the wrong direction.

Need some Gaumbi Gyan session for Dev. He needs to be told to be more practical & vocal.

Need Suman to spell out Shiva's Practical work input for Pandya store.

On side note: In Smalltown like Somnath, and in big cities like Amdavad- No Gujarati business family will demean hard work.

There are so many family businesses: For example Vaghbakri Tea family or Vadilal icecream family or many of Showrooms & stores & others... There are stories of combined hardwork+growth+joint families. Getting basic education: school+BA/Bcom & getting going with a family business is quite common., even now. The current generation pursues MBA- but not all.

Demeaning hard work Doesn't elevate education. Being just well educated doesn't guarantee success or growth. Balance is the name of the game.

Being practical is essential. And life lessons are important.

(too much to expect from 3 piece suit & briefcase obsessed itv male 'heros' - who abuse female leads & are shown doing nothing.)

Wonderful post. I have said this earlier too, Shiva can wear whatever he wants, no one has a right to question that. He looks pretty comfortable in whatever he wears. And there is something attractive about people who are comfortable in their own skin and doesn't give a damn about society's set standards. I like people like Shiva who refuses to bow down to pressure of society to conform to certain standards. He looks pretty comfortable in his skin and now it is upto Raavi to see beyond her shallow understanding of a person's looks and see him for what he is. She needs to realize this so-called gentleman image she has in her mind is not for everyone. And these gentlemen are not always what they appear to be. Look at Dev himself. He is said to be a well dressed gentleman. But look what he did to the two girls. He couldn't stand up for the woman he claimed to love or for the woman he dragged till the altar. So, clothing doesn't always dictate a person's personality or his qualities. Raavi needs to rise above her own prejudiced mindset and learn to see beyond the outer appearances of a person.

I loved how they dealt with dressing thing in malayalam version. Anjali (Raavi) went from someone who was obsessed with her husband's clothing and style to someone who appreciates all her husband's good qualities. She realized what a good person he is inside out and how his clothes don't define him .She even confessed to him that she now likes him for who he is and is not bothered about what he wears. Even then, he did make some changes in his dressing style while going out with her, so that no one would question his wife about her husband's clothes. It was brilliantly portrayed how both husband and wife understood each other and struck a perfect balance. I wish to see a progression like that in hindi version too. Both of them need to see the other from a more deeper light and learn to appreciate the other person for who they are.

.

Good point. Wish makers bring this point up from Raavi to Rishita... in front of everyone including Dhara & Suman!

Dev is neither Gentle/ nor good huMan at this point. He still hasn't owned up & apologized. More than gentleman- he is just a well-dressed constipated mannequin who is living off of his brothers' hardwork & was fooling around selfishly.

Thank youu. 🤗

You are bang on with your post. The world would look robotic if everyone wore the same clothes and started looking like each other. The charm of being a human being is our individuality. We live in an era where so many minor issues are being highlighted, calling out the hypocrisy in the world.

Women can have aspirations beyond their family, and that's okay. Men, too, cannot be held accountable for how they dress. It's his CHOICE; one should respect that!
