Yaar from how much I have understood Farhad - a guy who can leave his beloved mother behind for Mahi (unaware of her love for him) .. upon rejection stands a very good chance to have left for lahore but never reached lahore and is now roaming aimlessly .. especially after he was apparently pronounced dead ..

Somewhere he is not in a sane mental state to think clearly & take the right decision to go home instead ..

Ek musafir jo apni manzil dhund raha ho .. woh sirf ghumte rehta hai - yahan se wahan .. uska koi thikana nahi hota ..

To me he is in that state .. and hence he boards this train that is going from lahore to multan and not the other way around ..

See - this story is about his journey to find true love through allah .. going back to "society" is not the way to find God .. and showing him boarding midway (to multan) is a "turning" point in his journey to reach his final destination ..
