I get what you're trying to say. Both films had an OTT premise. But as rare as it is rich girls do marry taxi drivers or people of that class ,now and then. I know a couple of them who did. One being a cousin of mine (whose parents are well off) eloped with the electrician who fixed stuff at their home . She lives a different life and there's a bit of Raja in her husband but they seem to manage. They have two kids. She had never ridden a bus in her life but now that's all she can afford and as far as I can tell she's not complaining. She doesn't seem unhappy so it's probably real. So yeah it does happen .

Yes it does happen. One of my own friends has eloped with a slum dweller around the corner of her home. We were all so shocked at that time, no sure what transpired on her parents. I remember she used to live in a hut kind of a home with her husband working for daily wage. Not sure what happened eventually as we all were busy with our own college and stuff and lost track of her. :/

OT: I absolutely love Fanaa. Both Kajol and Aamir have done a commendable job plus it has one of the best soundtracks! Never watched Raja Hindustani.

They said, no give us three names but Aamir said I cannot imagine anyone else in this role

Aamir and Kajol did a special chat where they revealed this.... Aamir even said that he didn't think Kajol would say yes because she was probably doing KANK and the two weren't friends during Ishk.

In fact, Adi wanted Aamir to choose someone else because he also thought Kajol wont do it.

Stop spreading misinformation😡. Aishwarya was asked not only to do Kajol's role but also to do Amir's role. In fact, she was also asked to direct this movie and Filmfare already had the "director of the year" award reserved for her.

Secondly, she is blind which means her other senses are heightened and she cannot recognize his voice, you do not recognize the voice of the love of your life. Please that is such crap. People recognize the voices of their loved ones even after they have long passed away. The whole movie was stupid.

On the same premise Raja Hindustani was crap too, no rich girl will marry the taxi driver, sorry just not practical, will just not happen, one of the most WTF movies.

You are expecting logic from Bollywood romances?😆

Anyways, my mom used to say that movies like Raja Hindustani have inspired taxi drivers to flirt with their female customers, especially in the 90s.

Marrying across different incomes is very common here in Canada. But I get it, in India it’s quite rare.

In India you end up marrying the whole family and while it may hold the same all over the world, in India they are really intrusive and absolutely every decision has to somehow be approved by the guy's parents (again, mostly) and it's hard enough to make compromises everyday but then to make them again over and over on so many levels is extremely hard and exhausting.

Exactly why I find them annoying and yes that's true, suddenly you had absolutely every taxi driver, rickshaw driver, electrician and plumber, every handyman possible think they are Raja Hindustani waiting for that rich girl to change their lives. Another crap plot that would never happen, Pretty Woman. I loved the movie in my teens but growing up I realize, you know that would never ever happen! 😆

I dont think if there is such a big difference in finances to be called rich versus poor, the man's family would let it happen. For the woman if was love marriage, it is a lifelong story of how she was never in it for the money, and you have the in-laws to deal with who always seem to remind you oh, we dont do like this here or OMG she doesnt know this and it really gets tough with so much insecurity. So even though that would happen, again lot of heartache, pain and arguments.

Again, very rare and kudos to her for making it work but it is tough and not everybody can do it. The litmus test always is would have your daughter do it? Our life is a sum of our choices and with this arrangement, you have to make compromises, deal with the male ego while raising children and at some point I think every girl gets reminded, "I'm not your dad, dont expect that from me" and when that was a rich dad who could solve your money problems in a jiffy who can imagine how tough it can get. In my office we were four seniors all cross-cultural love marriages with at least one set of parents not on talking terms and when asked if we recommend love marriages without parent approval, we all were unanimously no!! We did it because when you are young you believe love conquers well and then a few years later you realize sometimes love ain't enough 😆 So though she may have done it, I'm sure she would advise against it and that's the cautionary tale, it is difficult
