I personally liked KANK. I know lot of people felt it was endorsing cheating and immorality, but I think there was more to the film than meets the eye. It is Karan Johar's most layered work till date.

I agree the main two protagonists i.e. SRK's and Rani's characters were selfish and not easy to like, but they were unhappy in their marriages from the start. They had issues, yes, but they found love in each other and someone who understood them even in their worst times. That's the takeaway I got from the movie.

Preity and Abhishek's characters had to suffer as a result of the actions of the former 2, but isn't life messy and complicated in the real world as well?

Do you agree/disagree?

Love this movie for showing that your spouse could be the best spouse ever, but if you are not sexually satisfied, it’s endgame 😆

I also love how they showed how resentment grows between couples to the point of no return.

I was randomly searching for Bollywood movies on youtube and from the title didn't think it would be about such concept.

It disturbed me so much.

They tried to mend their marriage and in the process, fell in love? And decided to cheat for unlimited days without any thought of future instead of owning up and divorcing?

The reason why it disturbs me so much is, it is sort of realistic. Cheaters must be like that only na. They must be thinking they aren't doing anything wrong, must be imagining themselves as the 'protagonists in love'. And justifying their actions by dumping the blame to the situation..

Govinda's, Anil kapoor's movies have the similar story.. Just that they don't 'to-the-face' talk about cheating and the repercussions of the cheating. Potrays the unrealistic sautan-bani-saheli and happy ending...

The movie has its moments and could have been a masterpiece. I liked it as it had shades of reality.

I think, Rani didnt cheat as she was not sexually satisfied, with Abhi but coz she connected with Shahrukh . They had chemistry..

SRK and Preity's characters hated each other, there was absolutely no fondness, no love, they were together for the child, it seems and it was definitely not going to work

They didn't share much of what went in Abhishek and Rani's character's life but if she couldn't think of Abhi's character as a potential sexual partner, If she didn't feel it for him in 5 years (?), again it wasn't going to work

Yes, Sex is very important in a married life unless you are a puritan

People don't end their marriages easily, there are responsibilities like kids and family then there's so much gratitude for love you recieve from your in laws and husband, its not an easy decision to make and sometimes you don't even know if you want to get divorced because the life you are living, even though it is not a happy life, it is your only option

Then you meet someone whom you actually like and you see that you can be happy and you take the chance with them

Then comes the question, why cheat and why not tell them before sleeping with each other?

When you have spent years with someone, it takes time to understand that you want to get out of it and start over with someone else, the fact that they didn't get together even after divorcing their respective partners, tells you that they weren't thinking clearly, they didn't have a future plan

SRK and Rani's characters didn't do it with everything in a skirt or a pant, they fell in love for each other so they are not habitual cheaters and these feelings are new for them, they have been loyal to their partners, till they met each other

For me, marriage is a social contract and people are too much into power of vows/sindoor to let people live their lives, you have one life, their life and their choice

The only Kjo film I liked. The film has its flaws, but it showed the maritial issues in a realistic way. The problems between Preity and SRK was bcoz tge wife is very successful in her career while the hubby isn't. I also liked how they showed Rani not able to respond sexually to Abhishek bcoz she doesn't love him anymore.

The Extra maritial affair is the weakest link of the movie, IMO. Not bcoz of any moral issues, but bcoz it seemed so unrealistic and pointless. I think it would have been a better movie, if SRK and Rani just remained friends after trying to repair their marriage s abd failing eventually .

I saw this a few years back. Was expecting it to be trash but ended up loving the movie!

Btw, on a side note, most of the scenes of New York are actually shot in Philly. It's a historic city and I loved the visuals.
