She is not dumb or selfish she has been burdened by the fact that the khandaan's respect depends on her and when a person has been taught something like this they're stressed whenever they make a small mistake also. And remember the fact where Ahaan said that Sonu can never do a mistake so she is afraid that she might let Ahaan down a person who has been already burdened with the shame of his mother wont be able to handle the embarrassment of his sister and might disown her that is the fact she is scared of
