Wow!! Some very intense discussions here. Thoroughly enjoyed reading every single comment and perspective.
There are many "Kirti"s and "Nishit"s around us, who should have ended up together, but didn't. And there are also those kind, that did, regardless of their cast, creed, social status or the 3Fs (3 cheers to Anitha for introducing this term). In this story, I feel Nishit & Kirti had their chances, but they blew it. Not saying every time it was their fault, but if they really wanted to have a future with the other, they should have tried harder.
Wooohooo!! Nail on the head!! It's like they weren't really there. The 3F's always played a part. A relationship like that, even if it had started is bound to fail. A relationship can only survive when two people are the most important for themselves and everything else becomes secondary. When that cannot or does not happen for whatever reason, the relationship cannot survive in the long run.
Like Sandy said, Nishit's attempts were half-hearted and it felt like every time Kirti refused for a lunch or outing, he immediately went on the back foot. The final nail in the coffin was the marriage. Real or fake, wanted or unwanted, we cannot ignore the legality of it. Kirti and Mayank are tied to each other whether they like it or not. Kirti didn't chose Mayank because she liked him, neither did she reject Nishit because she didn't like him. All the events leading up to the marriage decision have convinced Kirti that she & Nishit are not meant to be. We don't know the exact conversation that took place between Nishit & Kirti in the hospital, but I am sure Nishit didn't offer his undying love when he proposed marriage to Kirti. She wanted to marry for Dadi, and he agreed. For Dadi's sake. Kirti probably felt more comfortable taking favors from Mayank rather than Nishit.
I have always imagined Nishit to be the hero of the story, maybe because the story always revolved around him. If Kirti falls for Mayank, that would be a natural progression; and probably the best for everyone. Including Nishit. But somehow, I am still rooting for Kirti & Nishit to end up together. It looks practically impossible from where we are standing right now. Love, unrequited!
It is Love, Unrequited! And I am moving away from wanting them together 😃
The warning was loud and clear, but a heart wants what a heart wants!
